10A/X/HR Bumper Install

I'm picking up a set of take-off 10A bumpers this weekend including the front metal skid plate and I'm planning on putting them on my 2014 JKUR. I was wondering if any one else that has done this install has had any issues/problems? Or has any tips or tricks to help. Thanks in advance.

Also, will I need to relocate the vacuum pump?

Pretty simple install

Vacuum pump is fine.

I had to separate my fog light harness a little and take some wire out of the loom but I didn't have to cut and splice.

Thanks for the info. Are you running both front and rear 10A bumpers?

I just had the "10 Anniversary Front Bumper" installed by local body shop. However, when I came home I realized the original plastic "Skid Plate" was missing. When I called, I was told that the Skid plate doesn't fit with new bumper. Is that correct ?

Yes, it is correct. The 10A skid plate is different than the stock one.

I got my bumpers on this weekend. The 10A skid plate is steel and bolts to the bottom of the bumper and the bottom of the crash bar instead of the back of the crash bar like the plastic skid.

Just for reference, if you find one, the correct u-nuts to put on the crash bar are M10-1.5

Should be straight forward, my 10a front bumper has come off multiple times. It's only a pita when you install a winch and have to get those inside nuts back on.

Shooting,
Looks great! I am getting ready to do the same on my 2015 Rubi. Curious, where did you get your bumpers?
So far I found the best price , $1850( All 3 parts) from MoparAmerica out of North Carolina.

Thanks,
deerhntr

Nice info - I recently placed an order for those:

ROCK'S 4 x 4 paraurti per uso gravoso e accessori per jeep wrangler JK

I chose this front model, don't have no need for a winch just yert

ROCK'S 4 x 4 paraurti per uso gravoso e accessori per jeep wrangler JK

And this one for the back, with the 2" adaptor

ROCK'S 4 x 4 paraurti per uso gravoso e accessori per jeep wrangler JK

Price was fine, I'll be paying about 1.700 Euro for the whole kit, delivered at home (they come from Italy, and I'm in Southern France)
And you know what ?

My bumpers were take-offs. Guy bought Poison Spyder bumpers to put on his and luckily I was able to snatch them up. Paid $1300 for the pair including all hardware and the metal skid. The only thing that was missing was the fog lights, which I was able to score a set of take-offs on EBay for $60 from Rubitrux.

I have thought about it. I really like the way a stubby looks but with it still sitting factory height, the stubby might look a little goofy. But as soon as lift goes on, I will do it. Lol Which hopefully won't be long, brown Santa is supposed to drop the lift off next week...

I ordered mine from MoparAmerica. Received it within a week. My only complain is that it's impossible to speak to a live person over the phone. Had to communicate through email.
P.S. Use can use Promo Code "DodgeForum5%" for an additional 5% off.

Good for you, the speed up the removal process, just loosen all sixteen bolts a turn or two, then an impact takes care of the rest within a few minutes, compared to a good half hour with just the ratchet.

Cheers(b)

12JK,

Thanks for the code! Every little bit counts, 1/2 the shipping.

You can get adapters from Maximus, and they or other JK ones fit fine. I installed the KC Pro LEDs in mine.

Has anyone installed the metal Mopar font skid plate for the 10A? I did, and the outside screws come with slide in T nuts, and they can't slide in.

What are you referring to as the outside screws? The bumper should have clip nuts on the bottom of it and then there is 2 clip nuts that will have to go onto the crash bar for the bottom 2 bolts. Hope that helps.

It came with 8 bolts/clip nuts. The 6 front ones clipped onto the bumper just fine. But the back two (I said outside, but meant back) go into the crash bar I guess? Anyway, it is a U channeled steel bar behind the bumper, and the clip nuts won't work - there are just 2 holes in the bottom of the channel, not open ended holes like on the bumper. Maybe a regular nut and lock washer, then lay a box wrench flat in the U channel to hold the nuts - really hard to get to.

On the bottom side of the crash bar, mine had just open holes where it would need to bolt up. There were big rectangle cut outs just to the inside of both of the holes. I put the clip nut on the strip of metal separating the rectangle hole and the hole that lines up with the skid. Sorry for the crude drawing... Hope that helps.

The holes and the rectangle cut outs may be reverse of how I have it drawn. I don't remember exactly which way they were orientated but hopefully you get the idea.

No, that's very clear. What model do you have? I don't have those cut outs - mine is a 2012 Sport.
