2007 JK non-sunrider to sunrider conversion

Ok, so i have researched on a bunch of different forum sites and i can't find this exact answer. I have one of the apparently rare 2007 JKs (2door) where the original owner was too cheap and bought with the "non-sunrider" soft top.

I have seen lots of discussion around retrofitting newer sunrider tops like 2010 and above and it seems there was some kind of change in the framing in newer ones (door surrounds maybe?). My soft top itself is in great shape, I am wondering if anyone can tell me exactly what parts need to be replaced to just turn my "non-sunrider" into a "sunrider". The quadratec people basically made it seem it was the entire frame and soft top material itself. Just wondering if anyone has done something like this - not with any particular used parts but assuming I could order whatever parts I wanted to what is the bare minimum?

Note as a side note I am getting ready to replace the plastic header with the metal header because of the known wind problem that happens with the old plastic headers bowing over time. I am assuming for example there is no difference between the header needed to make it a sunrider and the standard replacement OEM header available today.

Welcome to the Forum!

The door surrounds are different so you would at least need to replace both surrounds, BUT this could lead other issues such as leaks and rough operation. Why don't you just buy someones complete used top with hardware?

If you insist on upgrading to Quadratec or a MOPAR online site and look at the exploded view of parts and their numbers for the differences.

The door surrounds for the sun-rider edition have a locking clip on them that matches a small tab with a hole in it on the rail. Just forward of this is the slide rails that uncover the joint in the frame that flips back creating the sun rider. The canvas top is not any different between the 2.
