2008 jeep wrangler 4x4 - engine seized up 48,700 miles

Can any one out there help me figure this out? my 2008 jeep wrangler 4x4 engine seized up, i have only 48,700 miles on it and it has been so babied. The oil level was fine as well. I felt knocking by my foot when driving and then i smelled something burning, on my way to drop it off at the shop. Now i have a jeep with low miles, full of oil and not explanation as to why my engine seized. I can see if i didn't take care of it but it had regular maintenance and was treated better than my kids. I'm looking for ideas/information to get help get this paid for by Chrysler. I checked the recalls and found nothing.. I was hoping i could find others who had the same problem to plead my case or our case! please help!

Did you but it used? Possible the PO ran it dry ?
Does it loose oil at all ?
These engines are known to spin bearings.
So sorry that happened to you. Good news is you can find take outs for rather cheap.
Good luck !!!!

I bought my jeep from a dealer in another state and did not know about the warranty because I didn't read everything that came with it. Stinks but what are you going to do. . I would like to know more about other people and their 2008 engines seizing up. Warranty or not 48700 miles and a seized engine don't make sense to me. Oil was fine, no warning lights....

I just had my first check up last year on my charger. They should of sent you a notice in the mail. Stating something like to keep your warranty your due for an inspection at a local jeep dealership.

Start calling scrap yards in your area, you might be able to find a totaled accident Jeep with a good engine. That might be luck of the draw though, Wranglers seem to get picked over pretty quickly from my experience.

If there's a local 4x4 shop they might have some connections, (worked for me when I needed a new rear axle). However they pulled some strings to get me a great deal on parts because they were also doing the swap.

If there's anyplace in your area that does regular hemi-swaps you can sometimes find a hook-up for a misplaced engine. AEV has a shop here in the Detroit area, I've heard comments from other people in the local Jeep community that you can sometimes get your hands on an engine that they've pulled for a swap. No idea how to go about that though. And you might have to wait awhile for a 3.8 to become available.

Check your local 4x4 forums. Wranglerforum is great, but it's more of a "broad spectrum" forum if you will, I wouldn't use it to try to organize a trip to the local off-road park with friends. There are generally local community 4x4 forums that can help you find parts closer to home.

Just a general note too, you can check out Jeep clubs in your area. I'm a member of a club and it really opens up your resources when looking for parts, need help wrenching, or have general questions. Once you've established yourself as not a jerk most people will bend over backwards to help other club members because they know you'd do the same for them.

GL with your search. If all else fails you can always add a couple extra cylinders, those hemis do sound sweet...
