2012 jk 6speed

Engine randomly cuts out in 6th gear.
I've down shifted and back up and was fine.
But last time this happened it shut down no fuel.... didn't start for 10 minutes?
Fuel pump/filter?

It does sound like a fuel pump problem but gear selection shouldn't matter.
Also, bad fuel could be a problem too.

I would start with CPS, then check for fuel pressure, most likely culprits do you get any check engine light? Do you have a scan tool to pull codes?

Is your check engine light on? Do you have any OBD fault codes?

The only thing special about 6th gear is that you're at low RPM when you use it. And therefore lower fuel flow.

I think the other posters are correct in pointing to a fuel filter/pump/injection issue. Or it's a crank/cam position sensor and it only affects low RPM.

Can you retrieve the codes? Any parts store can do it for free, or use this simple procedure:

A lot of people have posted about the engine cutting out around 1800 RPM and it turns out to be the crank sensor. Mine is sometimes jittery when it's cold around that RPM. 6th gear will drop you right in that range at about 55.

No engine light...no scan tool...CPS?

It's not gear related. The ECU has no idea that you're in 6th. What're you experiencing is RPM/load related. It could be that in lower gears you don't notice it because you're moving through that RPM faster. Personally, I'd just swap a new crank sensor in because it's easy and cheap. Consider it preventative maintenance if doesn't fix it.

CPS can mean either "crank position sensor" or "cam position sensor" they tend to get interchanged a lot

If it doesn’t work, most parts stores will read the codes for you for free (unlike the stealership)

Note: if there are no code the display will read : ———
