2013 CEL Oil Pressure Sensor Circuit

I have a 2013 Sahara Unlimited. Recently my check engine light came on and the code was for the engine oil pressure sensor circuit. After about a day the light went out. It has come back on and gone off once more. My question is, is this an issue that needs to be taken care of immediately or should I hold off until the light comes on and stays on? I'm out of warranty and I have about 42,000 miles on the truck. Most of the threads I have searched here seem to indicate that you can let this go for a while without incurring damage to the engine, but is that really the case? Of course, as soon as I canceled the appointment with the dealer the light comes back on. Thoughts?

^^^It is the oil pressure switch. I believe that it is item #20. It takes the Dealer approx. 4.5 hours to change it. They have to remove the intake manifold.

Your 3.6 engine runs a two stage oil pump. When the sensor fails, the pump remains in stage #2 (high pressure). FYI

Yes, it is a somewhat common problem!

I just picked up mine from the dealer and they replaced the pressure switch. Just from experience my rubi started acting funny with that code, my cruise control was different, eco mode disengaged, and my remote start failed, engine also ran a little rough so be gentle till its fixed. There is a service bulletin for it so the dealer may fix it for free if not I know people have called and got a service waiver being that it's a known issue. Mine was under warranty still. Good luck.

Update: dealer replaced the oil pressure sensor switch. Runs much better, less boggy. Even managed to save about $50.00 using the dealers own service coupons printed off the web. Thankfully back to normal.

I have this issue on 2013 JK with 42,200 miles. They just told me not covered by power train warrantee. I hear this is a common issue. If so can anyone provide me dealer info about it?

Because there is a service bulletin for it I have heard people calling direct to the manufacturer and being granted the service i'm not sure what the technical term is called for it.

I called Jeep and they told me it's not covered. I could really use a copy of the service bulletin if anyone has a link to it

Might help. It lists several vehicles and years.
