2013 JK horn and controls on back of steering wheel

The horn and the controls on the back of my steering wheel just stopped working. Checked the fuses but they were fine. Has anyone else had any issues with this or know what I need to check next?

Try disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes or so. Check this thread:

Sounds like a problem with the clockspring

It is the horn, the buttons for changing station and volume on the back of the steering wheel and the buttons on the left front that run through gas mileage and stuff. The cruise control on the right front still works and today I noticed that the part of the steering wheel that comes out from the horn to the outside is getting hot! WTH the left side was cool as a cucumber. Tried disconnecting the battery and the "love tap" at 2 o'clock and that didn't work either. Calling my dealer in the morning!!

We disconnected the battery briefly last night. Why would it need to be for 30 minutes? Just curious.

I don't know that it has to be that long but that's what someone had posted in another thread and the procedure fixed it for him. 5-10 minutes might be long enough.

Did the dealer get this fixed? If so, what did they have to do? I have a 2013 Rubicon and the same exact problem. Whacking the steering wheel or rotating it as suggested in some other threads doesn't fix the issue...

I thought I would share my recent experiences on a similar issue just in case it helps someone else.

Symptoms: Horn not working, all buttons on and behind the steering wheel not working except cruise control buttons. Blinkers and wipers are all fine. No trouble codes recorded or airbag lights are triggered.

Fix: Change the cruise control button switche 56046094AF. Its a $40 part and cost me $350 at the dealership in labor to diagnose and repair.

They told me that the cruise control switch is a pass through to the remaining buttons on the wheel and even though the cruise itself worked the output pin wasn't providing power or comms to the remaining circuit.

I do not know if there was any additional software update required but its worth a try before taking to the dealer. I changed the clockspring also before taking to the dealership but that did not correct the problem.
