2014 Tick

Last week, i noticed that my jeep has a weird sound. My first thought was that its time to replace the serpentine belt. I checked it out on Saturday with no signs of wear or premature failure... same with the pulleys.

There is no power loss, just a weird noise that won't go away. AM startup seems very awkward too.

Brought it in to the dealership yesterday to drop it off and get diagnosed. They will contact me today after evaluation.

I have 58k miles, no CEL, but i do have a dirty CAI. I'm not sure if that will void the warranty.

I picked up a tick in my 2012 at just over 100K miles. Ended up being one of the lifters. Pulled the valve covers, an adventure all on it's own with the tightly packed engine bay. Sure enough, passenger side rocker 3 or so from the firewall you could wiggle with ease. New lifter was cheap, replaced, re-torqued cam back down, and whisper quiet. There is a you tube video out there that shows the rocker problem and fix on a Pentastar in a challenger, that guided me pretty well. If you are under warranty, and this is your issue, should be fine. If not it's an easy if tedious fix. If you have this issue and need to dig into it on your own, remove everything you think might be in the way, even the fender liner, makes life easier getting to bolts hidden EVERYWHERE! That being said, I was a Heavy Equipment mechanic, so I have zero reservations tearing into the engine. With the rocker out the bearing wiggles all over the place, glad I caught it when I did.

Not Lifter, rocker, for clarification.

Update... Dealership techs confirmed that i have the infamous 3.6 tick.

They will replace whatever is causing the issue under warranty regardless of my CAI. Tomorrow is the teardown, evaluation, and replacement of whatever is causing the issue and hopefully i get my jeep back tomorrow or Wednesday.

58k miles on my 2014, but i still have the 100k warranty. I'm glad that i don't have a 2016 since FCA downgraded warranty to 5yr/60k standard.
