2015 Jeep Wrangler Tranmission Issue

Hi All,

I bought my Jeep Wrangler in February 2015. From the first week I bought my Jeep The car was coming out of gear. I was on the freeway one time and coming up an on ramp one time and one time I was accelerating across traffic lanes and it came out of gear. No rhyme or reason as to why it was doing this. I have had it in to the repair shop twice for this issue and third time because the car wasn't shifting out of first gear. The dealer blamed me the last time I brought it in and said I moved it from Automatic Mode to Manual mode. The thing is, I didn't touch anything! The dealer did a software update the first time, replaced a electro-hydrolic control unit (valve body) the second time I had it into the shop and the day after is when it wouldn't shift up from first gear. I was able to pull over and put it in neutral and put back into gear the times it popped out of gear and wouldn't shift up but They blamed me for the issue of not shifting up the last time and found nothing wrong with my Jeep. Anyone else having similar issues or ideas?
Thanks! Otherwise, I love my Jeep!

You say you love your Jeep but you keep mentioning some transmission problem that you are having with your CAR. I don't see how one has anything to do with the other.

Anyway, the only similar problem I've read about on the forum is when someone accidentally bumps the shift lever and puts it into manual shift mode. I think it is a poor design because it is so easy to do. My DD car has autostick but I have to move the gear selector handle down a notch to enable it.

Finally, a cute little kitten dies whenever someone calls their Jeep a car.

Couple questions - what do you mean 'coming out of gear'? Its an auto, right?

& when did they do a software update? There is a TSB out for tranny issues, just wondering when they flashed & if it covered the TSB.

When it was stuck in a lower gear did you check the dash to see what gear it said? If you accidently bumped the shifter it would say what gear it was in, 1st or 2nd or watever instead of just D. My dog used to bump the shifter all the time with her fat head when she was curled in a ball on the seat.

My jeep would refuse to downshift & slip out of gear into neutral, tho the shifter was in drive, at the most inopportune times like climbing a giant rock. It would also delay shifting into drive or reverse when in 4L. These were all problems covered in the TSB.

Thanks for the response.
I took the Jeep in on 6/16 and they did the automatic transmission update. Software flash for TCM (Flash software 3).
The second time I took it in I was 8/27 and was having the same problem and Dealership couldn't find anything.
The third time I took it in 9/24 they replaced the Electrohydraulic Control unit/Valve Body.

These visits to the dealership were all because when I was driving the Jeep would come out of gear. It was still in Drive on the shifter, but was coming out of gear internally and the RPMs would go up and I wouldn't go anywhere.

The next day, after the last repair on 9/25 I was taking off from a stop and the car wouldn't shift out of first gear. I did see the number 1 on the dash as you stated, but I swear I did not touch anything. You have to hit the gear shift to the left to put the Jeep into Manual mode...
