2015 JKU Sahara help

Hi all,

As the title says I have a 2015 JKU Sahara I purchased new in 2015. I just took it in for an oil change and they have suggested I change the following fluids.

Power steering fluid
Brake fluid
Front differential
Rear differential
Transfer case fluid

The vehicle has just over 80,000km on it, or 50,000 miles. It's pretty much an A to B daily driver that hasn't seen much adventure.

I was hoping some of the more mechanically inclined folks could help me out. Are they trying to upsell these fluid changes or is this normal at this level of mileage?

I have asked some friends who drive things like Subarus and they think it would be unnecessary.

I just want to know what I really need to be worried about replacing at this stage, as I want to buy the items and fluids and do it myself. With some help of course. I just do not want to fall victim to the dealerships traps.

All help is appreciated!

Thank you!

We have a 2015 JKUR and just did our 60K Mile maintenance as per the owners manual.
front / rear diff, t-case, oil change and transmission. I did the 4x4 fluid change as we do take it off road. I would stick with the recommended maintenance as per the manual. Dealerships like to up sell.
hope this helps

also check the air filters. You can change that yourself

Thanks!

So I could probably push it off and get away with leaving it until the spring if I really wanted? As long as I didn't exceed the 60k miles/ 96k KM mark?

Typical dealer up sell. Your owners manual will describe the mile and time intervals for these and more. And when the time comes for service the dealer would not be my first choice.

You're fine to wait until spring. I would recommend doing the diffs (at least the rear) yourself or at another, cheaper shop. I first changed mine around 25k and they really needed it.

All dealers try to blindly sell fluids, filters, belts, and intake cleaning. I do all my own work and they always try to scare you into it. I had a VW dealer tell me my air filter was ruined and my engine oil was old and dirty. I had literally replaced both just a few days before, so I complained to management and ended getting a bunch of free services. I was also told that I needed to flush my "burnt" power steering fluid on an older car that didn't even have power steering.
