2016 JK Speaker Upgrade

I am looking to upgrade the base non Alpine speakers in my 2016 jk unlimited. I read all the reviews on the 77kick10's but am concerned with the tweeters in the dash and sound bar.

Will these be a better option?

Kicker 40CSS654 6-1/2" component speaker system at Crutchfield.com

Not looking for incredible hi-if but just an upgrade to the paper cone speakers.

Best bet is to visit local shops and listen to what they have. Crutchfields prices are usually no better vs a local store.

A component set is the best way to go, not sure what the 77kick10's are, I assume oem upgrade which would be overpriced.

There are tons of great speaker companies out there...

They're 6.5 OE replacements made by Kicker. Plug and play at ~60/pair isn't too shabby.

I saw those but I am not sure what to do with the tweeters, some reviews say that I would need to dissconect the tweeter but the coax aiming down would muddy the sound.

Read Pressurized thread on tweeters on this forum. He recommends the 77kick25ab's to go with the 77kick10's. The 25's make a huge difference in the sound field imaging up front. On Pressurized advice and after listening to his rig I put the 10's and the 25ab's in both the dash and the soundbar (8 speakers) in my '15 JKWW. What a change! And like the 10's, the 25ab's plug right in. No fuss, no muss...

Happy Trails,
Bob

just searched for those kick10's, pretty easy to see why they are $60 for the a pair

I wouldn't want coax 6.5's up front

W/o a doubt a big improvement over stock, but for similar money or a little more there are much better options

On my base audio system 2015 JK, I installed four of the 77kick10 6.5" coaxial speakers, and four Pioneer hard dome tweeters (in place of the OEM 2.5" high range speakers), and I'm very pleased with the result.

Here is my posting about the hard dome tweeters:
https://www.wranglerforum.com/f202/ne...k-1214057.html

The total cost of the speakers (all purchased from Amazon) was $180 -- the 6.5" Kickers were $60 per pair, and the Pioneer hard dome tweeters were $30 per pair.

77kick10s mounted in the sound bar this weekend with some polyfill. Marked improvement, and one of my favorite dollar to value mods so far.
