2018 JK unlimited cranking problem

I have a 2018 Unlimited JK Wrangler. I have a problem that my dealer cannot or will not investigate. My Jeep is still under warranty and I have addressed this problem with the dealer several times. Here is my problem, I will be driving my Jeep and pull into wherever I am going, and when I try to restart it, when turning the key, all electricals will power up, but when tiurning the key to crank the engine, nothing happens. This situation will continue for 15-20 mins, and out of the blue, it will crank over.

My issue is, what happens if I am in a deserted area, late at night and will not start at all. Has anyone else experienced this problem with their JK with a 3.6 Penstar engine?

Can you try using the spare key?

Tighten battery cables. Try cranking with trans selector in N.

I have tried both keys the problem still exist. The battery cables are both tight so that is not an issue I have even gone as far to jump it to see if that will fire it up but nothing happens. I think it's an ECU or some other type problem like that where a command to start is not being sent.

Hi billm31748,
We're sorry to hear about this. Often times, dealers do need to be able to recreate your concern in order to identify a repair procedure. If you decide to visit your dealer in the future, please feel free to send us a PM. We would be happy to connect you with a Case Specialist to work with you and your dealer to assist.

Known issue and there is a TSB to replace a module in the tranny. It gets hot and throws a no start, then cools off in about 20-30 min and allow a restart. Simple fix to replace it.

But getting the dealer to actually do the replacement when they can't replicate it is an issue. I had to get Jeep Cares involved to get mine replaced.

Jeep Cares was extremely helpful and great about following up to make sure it was corrected to my satisfaction. Once Jeep Cares got involved, the dealer was great too.

Mine was fixed about a year ago and no further issues, so far.
