50" light bar

So I have been doing my research and finally decided to start a thread with some questions and opinions.
1. How does everyone like their 50" and is it worth the hassle of the ear piercing whistle at highway speeds?
2. Is their a certain set of brackets that eliminates this noise?
3. Can anyone who has a great setup running post what they got?

Love mine, but I do a lot of night wheeling. Get some weather stripping from home depot ($7) and insert in one of the rear 'fins' of the light bar, between the bar and the windshield. Toss some epoxy or silicone in for good measure. Also, do a few strips of silicone across the entire back of the bar, running perpendicular to the fins.. It's that vibration that causes the whistle. Can't completely get rid of it, but I only get whistle with a real bad crosswind now.

Anybody using one of the single row slimline light bars. Look less bulky and put out the same light output. Wonder if these do better with wind noise and turbulence

I'll chime in. I have had a 20" China bar for a couple of years and it's been unreal. Great $50 investment.

So my mom got me a 50" almost 2 years ago for my birthday, and about 3 months ago I remembered I had it and put it on, wired it up, etc.

I have to say that although it's bright, it isn't much brighter than my smaller one...and I don't care at all for the glare from my hood. I have the power dome hood so it may be because of that bubble that it's glaring badly.

I don't know which one she bought me, but also after only a few months I have about 8 LED's that are out. I have maybe 20 minutes of on time with it.

I also am interested in a single row bar...to replace the double row 50".

Not sure the make of the bar, it's some Chinese knockoff, double row... And the brackets are eBay as well.

I have a Rigid 50" mounted with a poison spider bracket. I do not have any whistle or noise that seems different from what was there before. I love the light but since it is actually rare that I find myself in need of that much light I rarely use it. But when you need it....

I have the 50" single row from Rigid (SR series) and it's pretty sweet. I like the low-profile look. Bright as crap at night and zero whistle at any speed. There is some wind noise at highway speeds, but it's nothing crazy and you'll probably get that with any light bar since you're basically putting a 50"-wide wall on the top of your Jeep haha. Kicking up the radio a notch or two solves it.

Well I'll be darned. I've only had my Jeep for about a month and it came with a 50" light bar and I have been wondering what the heck that noise was coming from the front. I hear a sound when driving even slower than highway speeds, could that still be the sound I'm hearing?

I love mine, just got a cheap one off ebay, included bracket and 2 cubes and all the wiring and was less than $200 - even if it only puts out 75% of the expensive ones its pretty dang impressive and basically turns night into day. It did have some buffeting and whistling but I fixed that problem with some rubber baseboard molding strips from Home Depot - was less than $5 to fix and is nice and quiet (well as quiet as a Jeep gets).

Here is the link to the fix https://www.wranglerforum.com/f202/52...x-1517161.html

No noise with mine. I would not run it without a visor. The hood glare is horrible.

Maximus3 makes a 20" LED bar bracket for the Hard Rock/10A front bumper. Maximus3.com and rubitrax.com have them available.

I can Answer these for you

1) I LOVE the lighbar on my 08 JKU. It's BRIGHT as all get up, and everybody compliments it. It's well worth it. It's 23,000 Lumens.
2) I found a trick to get the noise to go away. I drive 70 miles round trip every day, and the ONLY time the lightbar makes ANY noise is between 5 and 15 MPH. Other than that, it's SILENT. I took some weather stripping and cut it into 2 - 4" strips. I put one on each side of the lightbar, on the ends (the heatsink fins), and then ran a zip tie around the entire lightbar to keep them on. (I'll Post Pix tonight)
3) This is my bracket: https://www.flickr.com/photos/140136.../shares/86G37B
It has the 50" bar bracket, and brackets at the bottom for smaller spots also. I have 3" Pods on them.

how do you like the radiance series lights? I have rigid d2 duallys and the JW speakers and they together put out a ton of lightt but I wanted a 50" E series or SR series but i cant justify the price. I saw the 50" radiance series and i was looking at it but skeptical, they arnt made in the USA like the other rigid products wondering if quality is still the same.

I dont want to buy any ebay or chinese knock off, ive had too many friends that buy them and they only last a couple months

I have one in my Jeep, it's great for some night wheeling but honestly the wind buffering flapping against my soft top sucks. I don't mind it personally but when my girlfriend rides with me we can barely hear each other talk. I usually take it off for long road trips as its just unbearable above 6omph for long periods of time. All in all I love mine but seriously considering downsizing to a 20 on the hood.

True, I love mine, but the flapping on the soft top is crazy unless you have a hard top. This is how I got rid of the flapping. If it's not that cold outside, roll the window down a bit, but don't turn the air on inside. Cold outside, turn on the heat in low mode with all windows closed.

Everything Rigid sells is made in the USA. No Chinese LED bars from Rigid. I spoke with them about their new Radiance LED bars and they told me the way they're able to keep the price point down is by the Radiance have a single row of LED's and less circuitry, I believe the 50" Radiance has 27 newly designed LED's with over 17,500+ lumens. I will answer other questions when I get home from work later.

Only had them wired up for 2 days now but I'm super happy with the 20" & 50". They put out more then enough light on dark roads, I was surprised on how bright and far they light up the road ahead. As for backlighting I would say go with blue so they stand out more, white will just look like a dull LED bar and you won't have the special effect of the Radiance LED bars. The Radiance bars have a red, black and white wire, the white is the radiance backlighting hot wire you can put on its own switch like what I did on my sPod for my 20" radiance and 50" radiance backlighting. You can also just ground off the body for your ground.

I would definitely recommend them to a friend, you can't get a Rigid 50" LED bar for under $480 bucks, the 20" was about under $200, I say go for it.
