AEV 430N Back Camera-Switch to Aftermarket Unit

I have the AEV backup camera on my 430N and was curious if anyone knows if it can be used on an aftermarket head unit. This camera has an adapter to plug into the back of the 430N and then flashed to use the camera on the 430N.

Thanks!
DAVE

Short answer is yes. I am running a $9 amazon camera for my BU cam to an android HU. Works great.

I might need a longer answer JK. I think I didnt explain it well....the AEV camera is not the traditional type with the yellow video connector. It has some wires that go into the unused 22 pin connector on the back of the factory head unit. I'm sure the wires are the same as a normal cameras. Here is a link to the install PDF where you can see the three wires used to go to the head unit and wiring diagram. Page 4 and 5 have the details on the plug and wire colors.

You will need to determine which wire is your video feed. Then you can either hard wire or add a rca depending on what is needed based on the new HU requirements. If your new HU comes with a Jeep harness hopefully you it will display BU Camera on screen automatically when in reverse. If not your new HU does not have a jeep harness you will need to figure out the wiring. Not fun or recommended but possible. If you want to run multiple cameras you will also need to add a camera switcher. I use the Pac VS41 which allows for up to 4 cameras to be displayed on your HU. I am currently only running two but may add more as cameras are cheap and easy to setup.
