another no start thread - N does not work - automatic

Hey lady's and gent's,

07 - X - Automatic. Only 49k Miles.

Had a no start the other day, had them before, normally just wait a few or throw it into N and it started fine. the other day though, it would not start in N or anything. I would not give up the Key once or twice which is why i was worried it would be something with the female part of the ignition key. I only have a single key (short on cash and cant pay a stealership $$$ to get a key programmed i have my first kid on the way in a month)

I thought it was a dead battery though i did not have any issues with it previously, but i had never replaced it and i know the other guy who had it did not either. So i got a new battery and it did not start as soon as they put it back in there...

All i hear is a click, i have my normal errors on the dash (my sensor tripped when i installed new brakes and added spacers + rubi rims) and my ABS wont turn on - not worried about it i know what that is, cant imagination it has any effect but figured i would mention it - its been like that for months and no issue what so ever.

Do you think it could be a starter? I have heard something about the MCM but given i only have one key do i have to have them reprogram it all as well?

Im at a loss, i think my best bet is the starter since it wont start in N or anything.

I have not tried the ground wire - im kinda stuck at my house soposed to be at work but... thats not working out so well.

Update all the grounds are very tight, should i be loosining them and scrubbing them if im checking them ? (only looking at the two next to the battery ) Are there more major grounds i should be concerned with - the one connections on the battery are OK as well, very tight and its a brand new battery.

Sounds like the solenoid on the starter. Sometimes hitting the solenoid with a hammer jars it loose to be able to start the jeep. Check the connections on the starter wires. They might be loose.

Thanks for the info gents, apparently when i responded earlier it did not actually post, Here is an update for anyone looking to check it out.

NSS - placing the gears in Neutral did not work, same symptoms.
New battery - one jump fixed the issue once maybe unrelated.
WCM - did not test.
Starter - my likely culprit since i got all lights (means not dead battery ) and a loud click. The shroud and the like kept me from effectivly hitting the starter in the right spot to try and unstick it.
The jeep used to be a rental for going around in alaska for a group. its been clearly stuck in a sand bar or something. and had gunk everywhere.
i had my father come over to my house while the wife was shopping for the baby - we had a 3 foot breaker bar, and a 3 foot 'cheater' just to get the bolt to move. No luck. Its also 13 degrees out where i live, and on concrete floor was no beuno as they say in the south.

finally had it towed to the local shop (literally less then a mile away) and had them mess with the starter.

Got a call and its Good to go. End result it was the starter, fires right up with no issues. Got my core back on the starter and just never told the wife about it and got some new sensors for the ABS. Cheers to anyone who also joins the no start club. I gladly did not have my "1 month" chip....
