Anyone remove the lock in console lid?

Anyone here ever have to remove the center console lid lock from the latch mechanism? If so, how did you get the lock out?

How long can this thread keep going w/o anything that remotely resembles a useful answer?
BTW I already figured it out, just didn't get around to posting that yet.

I don't think the older ones are the same as the kids have changed a lot. I did find a bunch of stuff on TJ's when I googled though. Maybe some YJ too, can't remember.

Maybe I can bring it to a locksmith. Have them unlock and make me a new key.

If it's stuck locked I think your in trouble unless the can "pick" the lock. I needed the key to get the lock unit out.
Put in key, turn to lock, push in little tab, turn a bit further... lock pulls out. I had to remove the latch unit from the lid to get to the lock. It just pulls out after removing 2 screws.
The inner lid panels pops out with a trim tool to allow access to the latch unit.

Damn that sucks. May be drilling. Haha always worth a shot though. Got a lot of work to do before getting to lock anyway. Swapping axles and steering box from my old jeep then have to pull everything out of the cab and have someone weld in new metal over the rot holes. Fix the cab mounts that are rotting then put everything back on and have someone do all the wiring for the speakers and sub. Then I will worry about the lock. Haha
