Banks Performance System

I just got a 2015 Wrangler JKU and was wanting to get a Banks performance package that includes Ram Air Intake system, an exhaust and a flash tuner. I was excited about getting the kit when a friend who is in a local jeep club and has been driving jeeps for years swore that if I did get that kit it would be the biggest mistake I can make because it would cause engine issues later in the life of the engine. I don't know anything about performance upgrades and was wondering if there is any truth to that? Appreciate the responses.

Have you done any research into this at all? You do realize that none of the Banks tuners (iQ 2.0 and AutoMind) will work with a 2015 right?

Unless you do a real screwey tune, which you probably can't, that package won't cause any engine issue.

However, dispite it's name, it won't do anything to upgrade performance either.

So, you won't hurt anything, and you won't gain anything except different sounds.

So from everyone's post getting the Banks system is worthless. Very interesting.

I've heard good things about the exhaust and am planning on upgrading.

Don't be to upset about the above comments. No one around here really thinks well of any cold air intake including my self.

As for the tuner, yes please look into that. For some reason the 2015 computer is different and doesn't take kindly to being told what to do.

I love every CAI-related thread on this forum, always entertaining. So much ignorance and misinformation with no backing info....

The tuner is the key here, the only way to see meaningful gains from such mods. Assuming it works flawlessly with Chrysler's computer that is. I know I've seen dyno results on this setup somewhere, and seems to me that it gave some pretty decent results. One would think that a company like Banks has this in check.

That said, a CAI will usually allow more dust infiltration than the stock airbox, and you're in for a surprise if you like to ford deep water. And most of the power gains will be mid to upper engine operating speeds, not at non-crawling RPMs. If you DD your Jeep and spend any time on the highway, merging and passing, you'll probably like and appreciate it. If you crawl around in low range all the time, you won't see much benefit.

If you're cool with all this, go for it.

I disagree Stroker !

Banks has an EXCELLENT marketing department and they DO have some good products
(that they put on their demo 18 wheel pike's peak climber, etc...)

too bad they don't share anything but the marketing with us

They make good stuff.....

they make a product that does very minimal good at wide open throttle. i have 60k miles on my 3.6 and running 37s. I get 17mpg and have never once trompt the pedal to wide open throttle. that crap means something on a sports car and the Jeep is not that.
