Battery changes Transmission

Just changed out a failing Mopar battery in my 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon with a 3.6 liter engine and 5-speed automatic with a new yellow top Optima battery. Immediately the engine warning light came on, the AutoStick function doesn't work at all and the transmission wont shift to a gear higher than 2nd. Seems like it has to be something to do with the computer but the dealership wants to replace the transmission. Just doesn't seem right because i never had any problems until i changed out the battery.

Sounds like it's in limp mode for some reason. If the engine light is on then there are codes stored. What are they?

The dealer wants to "replace the transmission"? That is scary.
As Bob said, it sounds like it is in limp mode. Did the dealer read the codes? What are the codes?

You are in limp in mode. Only 2nd and reverse.
it might be that the TCM went haywire and lost the stored info, adaptives and VIN.

You can try to disconnect the battery to do a reset or if you have a scanner which is able to communicate with TCM you can delete all dtcs and store new adaptives. That should do the trick

sounds like the battery got hooked up backwards. I have changed battery 3X now in JK's and never had an issue.

Battery changes Transmission

Fianlly got the 2014 back from the dealership and the codes are P0731, and P0732 which are gear ratio errors in 1st and 2nd. They also have a number 50728 which says internal transmission failure. Since i have gotten it back I tried: 1) to disconnect the battery and tied the cable ends together overnight.
2) Disconnect and re-connect the TIPM and turn to on position for 12
seconds and then turn off.
I'm up for any of the easy suggestions anyone has that might do the trick. Sounding like it is in the "Limp" mode just not sure how a battery change would have done that. Son just informed me that he tried to reprogram with a superchips flashpaq, which it took following the ride home when it wouldnt shift into 3rd. Now when we reattach the programmer it says files missing. Wondering if the error codes and the warning light have to be reset. Could it be the TCM, TIPM, ECM Input and output speed sensors? Thanks for any suggestions. Hope everyone has a Happy Holiday Season.

I would call Superchips. I have heard of more issues with Superchips than any other tuner. sounds like your son may have changed gear ratio as well hence the problem.

are you running stock gears? if so make sure your stock gear ratios are actually programed in. I have read all too many times people think they can change gear ratios with the tuner for better performance but it does not work that way.

It's no longer in 5 year 100K miles powertrain warranty? I would be towing it to a real transmission shop for a diagnoses and second opinion.
