Battery terminal mystery nut

Recently I was traveling for work and my wife's battery died, so being the enterprising lady she is, she stole the battery out of my Jeep temporarily until she could replace her own. She was in a hurry to go somewhere so just swapped hers out real quick.

Long story short, she lost the M6-1.0 nut that tightens down the battery terminal and I need to find a replacement. It's not a regular nut tho, it has a taper on the underside of it that, when tightened down, tightens the actual battery terminal to the battery post.

So you can see, I attached a couple pics. It basically just looks like a miniature lug nut. Also attached a pic of the terminal and a pic of the tapered nut next to a regular flat M6-1.0 flange nut.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to find one of these??

You might try AutoZone or some other auto parts store. I'm sure the dealer would have one at a fairly large price for a nut.

I believe lowes and home depot sell those as something like a "conical seat" nut or something like that.

I did away with all that stupid crap. Put a 1/4-20 SS straight through like how every other post in every other vehicle is. It tightens down nice and firm now.
Dumb design IMO

^^^^^ What he said. Replace the terminals with real terminals since you are shopping for parts anyway. The jeep terminals are very flimsy.

Best cables and clamps IMO. I have a set on my XJ.

Yes, I wouldn't have posted if I didn't. Just trying to see if anyone has a resource I overlooked. Dealer doesn't sell just the nut, the only way to get it from them is to buy the entire harness which is ridiculous IMO.

And I'll look into the comical sphere nut or whatever it was. Thanks!

If you cannot find one you might try browsing a salvage yard and see if there's one laying under a hood somewhere.

I'd buy new terminal clamps. I lost the clip that the nut goes into on my 2015 and no dealers had that clip- pain in the rear. I replaced the terminal clamp and couldn't be happier.

Thanks! I'm gonna try RoadiJeff's tip and check a couple salvage yards, if not I'll just replace them with some nice high quality ones.

I'm in desperate need of one of these nuts also, so if you know of anybody that has an extra one please let me know.

I know this thread is about 8 months old. However, why didn't your wife just borrow the Jeep that day instead of taking the battery out of it to put in her car? Is it a manual and she cannot drive it or something?
