Bent rear axle shaft?

Help me out wrangler forum i think i might have a bent rear axle shaft.

about a month ago my rear brakes were squeaking really bad on the passenger side. I replaced the rear pads and rotors and saw that the passenger side rotor was worn way more than the driver side so i also replaced the passenger side caliper because i thought it was sticking.

just the other day I was riding with my doors off and noticed a quiet squeaking coming from the rear passenger side wheel. and it only squeaks at a certain point in the rotation of the wheel, like 1/4 turn squeak then 3/4 turn no squeak.

I took a look at both rear brake rotors and noticed slightly more wear on the passenger side rotor.

also, this might not be related, but i am getting a slight wobble at 80+ mph.

could this be a bent rear axle shaft?
if so how can i be sure it is a bent shaft?

and what brand rear axle shafts do y'all run?

I jacked the rear end up, set my iPhone to record and got into the jeep and put it in gear. It gave me a good look at the wobble. Mine isn't so bad that it's squeaking the brakes tho. I am going to replace with Ten Factory Chromoly.

Carbon Offroad also has a great deal on rear axle kits complete with bearings.

do you know if that price on carbon offroad's website is for one rear axle shaft or for a set of two?

also check Northridge4x4 they offer a forum discount and you can get 10factory which are the same as the carbon offroad/G2 etc with bearings already pressed on. They had the best shipped price when I bought my last set.

use a dial indicator and check the run out on your hub and also rotor. might be just rotor but sounds like a bent flange to me.

Sam -- Your symptoms are identical to the ones my JK experienced when the rear shaft flanges were bent. I went with the Ten Factory preassembled from Northridge. I've had them in about a year with no problems.

Jack up the rear end and support on jackstands. Take the wheel/tires off. Use lugs (likely need spacers like larger nuts or such) to tighten down the rotors to the axle flanges. Start jeep and put in gear. Get out and go observe the caliper/rotor. if the flange face is bent, you will be able to see the caliper/piston pulsating in/out...

Go Revolution axle kit. Its fully pressed together and ready to slide in and its USA MADE, with 4340 material and stronger/better. for only a few hundred more you get USA MADE product, and stronger/nicer made shafts...
