Best heavy duty spare carrier?

Was going to get the Aries unit, but they seem to be out of stock for now and I need one NOW. Bought a jeep with 35s and the stock carrier is bouncing all over. What's the best one out there for up to 37s and 90+ lbs?

Any help is appreciated.

I live my HD carrier with spare mount that Teraflex makes. I have a 35 on it and it opens/closes with minimal effort like a 31 is on it. Doesn't jiggle either while driving.

I previously had the Teraflex. It was beefy and silent.

I have had a TF hd hinge since 2012 and have around 100,000 miles with lots of off road and rough forest service roads and usually has carried either a heavy Toyo 35" tire or a Toyo or Cooper 285/75-17. solid and no noise at all. One thing i really like is it won't allow you to over open your tail gate. Jeep started making the Tera Flex hinge an option on in 2017 and 2018. My 2018 Recon has the option and it is actually more expensive to buy it as a factory option vs going thru Northridge4x4 or KOR.

I have the Teraflex carrier hinge assembly. It's definitely one of the best.

I just installed the Teraflex tire carrier with hi lift jack mount, and I can't say enough good things about it. Very sturdy no rattles, heavy duty and the tail gate feels great.

the AEV tire carrier is freakin' stout and solid as a rock! it's also pretty heavy. happy to sell you a used one at a discounted price if you're in Texas. I took mine off to go with something lighter because I don't need one that heavy-duty.

Another thing I failed to mention about the Teraflex is how close it keeps your tire mounted to the tailgate. Also it is a single swing open just like stock with no need to open a tire gate and tailgate.

I have the Maximus-3. They specialize mostly on the Hard Rock, 10A and the Recon Rubicons but their tire carrier fits all Jk's. I like comes pre-drilled for whatever accessories you may want later on; High Lift Jack, CB antenna, lights, shovel, gas and water cans and more. By the way, MADE IN USA, unlike many others.

Here's mine right after install a few months ago:
Below also I installed a LED reverse light with a homemade bracket, no drilling at all:

Note that what you linked is JUST the tire mount and does NOT include the hinge.

THIS is the complete kit.

Look at about $650 for the hinge and tire mount kit.

I have the Moryde HD hinges, tailgate reinforcement and spare tire carrier. I think it's great. With 35's, you can probably just use the tailgate reinforcement and hinges with the stock carrier, but you may need to saw off the 3rd brake Light. My only issue was aligning the tailgate, but that will be an issue with any carrier that builds on the tailgate itself.

I'm looking to add the Smittybuilt XRC Gen. 2 tire carrier. I have the SRC Gen 2 bumpers and it will look good together. Also has mounts for a jack, gas and water.

I've had experience with Terraflex, Rugged Ridge, and Smittybilt HD Pivot. All three have the same basic hinge design but all three have different carriers. Of the three, the Smittybilt seems to me, and others, to be the strongest which made it the choice for my own use. Money didn't come into play for me and I'm certainly not brand loyal to anyone. I simply bought what I presumed to be the best of the three for me. https://www.quadratec.com/products/1...iABEgKKrvD_BwE

Spare Carrier

I've installed a rear bumper/spare carrier from Metalcloak. It's been great and as little rattling as you could seek. Their spare gas can mount has been a little suspicious, and I'm figuring out a reinforcement. I'd really like to plug them though for their fit and finish. I've put on a few other parts from them, and, by far, it was better than any other manufacturer I've experienced. Good, good people!

I paid $750. The Teraflex is $650 and you asked for the best not for the cheapest.

I have the Brigade hd on my 12jku...this thing is solid as a rock and hold's up to a 37. It has new mounting plates that are like buckets that the hinges go into. It mounts in the buckets with hinge pins. It is adjustable up and down to fit the size of your tireand also comes with an extension piece to raise the third break light up above the tire top. Ammreall y pl eased with it and it is not to expensive...bought mid range in price.

I got the TerraFlex hinge and HD tire carrier a couple of months ago when they were on sale for $455. It is a very nice piece of gear.

Prior to that, I had a Smittybilt Atlas rear bumper and tire carrier. That setup was very heavy, cumbersome to get into the tailgate, and I had to adjust it periodically or it would rattle.

The Terraflex was a straight forward install, makes getting into the tailgate a breeze, and it keeps the spare a lot closer to the tailgate.

I had waffled on it for $650 for some time, but when it was $455, it was a no-brainer.

Of course, then I had to buy a new rear bumper since the Smittybilt not only looked odd without the swing gate, but my tire wouldn't clear the bumper with the Terraflex mount.

So, I bought a $600 bumper too.
