Best way to add subwoofers?

Wanting to add some but not sure about the trunk because of limited space could they go under the seats?

JL Audio's Stealth Box.. I have two and they produce awesome bass. One would be ample Jeep Wrangler Unlimited '07-Up - JL Audio

The "best" way is an external amp and a (2 speaker) subwoofer box in the rear. This is the "best" way, IMHO. At home, do you have your subwoofer under your sofa? Or, is it across the room? The box isn't that heavy and you can easily take it out. Still, there is good, there is better, and then, there is best. You asked for "best".

Stealth boxes are legit, I wouldn't be too quick to judge something u haven't heard. I have 2 powered with 2 500 amps behind the glove box everything is hidden and plenty of bass. Bass travels through the tub and sounds like it comes from the back seat. Seats move freely. Trunk room always free. Will cost a bit more to go stealth route though as opposed to the more common trunk placement.

my father in law did the StealthBox, it is pretty legit:

I did the Kicker VSS SWRA411

I didn't say they weren't legit. I think you're reading an argument into my comment.

10" subs and a mono amp. One under each seat is the only way to fly if you ask me. Custom boxes from Mattk11. More bass than you will need, but nice to have headroom for adjusting.

Just posted a similar thread the other day. I don't know about you but I love the stealth box and the vrssa or whatever the kicker line is but I didn't have the extra 1500 to spend after doing a whole install so I went with an 8" Audison sub made by hertz and its location is moveable but it also hides nicely. I'd highly recommend.

although i have never had a need to move it, that is a benefit of the Kicker VSS. It just clamps on the back of the seat. so it can be unclamped at any time, and has a quick disconnect so you can remove the whole thing if needed

Ok I love this part...

check out mine...
I later removed the top Plywood covered ion carpet deck and hacked a Tuffy front portion off and bought a Jeep floor mat for some other model jeep and hooked it all up as shown...
Subs= Problem Solved...

This is the best option I have looked at. It will be my next audio upgrade. I wish he did 8" as I think two 8s would be great and need less air. But anyway, a sub is critical in this Jeep. I still use my old 10" Alpine R in a box in the cargo area. Small enough to pull out with ease, but plenty loud with the roof is off. Much cheaper than the custom options if you don't fill your cargo area all the time.

I would also suggest adding the headliner. It was a huge benefit to the sound in the Jeep. And it keeps it cooler. Finally, get a HU with time alignment. Best invention in car audio since the tape deck - vinyl on the road is a bear.

Those are at floor level and flat Mine are vertical and protected by bucket seats and not in the mud zone since they sit a lot higher... but to each his own..bet they rumble though ...not a bad set up ...

They look like they do indeed rumble. I am looking to get them out the cargo area. I load the back frequently and need to pull out my sub to use the area. I do worry about feet and mud under the seat though.

I agree. This sub/box with an amp to push it is the best option. I went with two but one would probably be sufficient for most. They fit perfectly without sacrificing any useful space at all.

I also installed an aftermarket head unit with CarPlay, Android Auto and Sirius XM.

I donít know about you guys but my junk leaks sometimes and gets my floors wet. I donít want my subs under the seat for risk of ruining them.

The one that is in my Rubi is waterproof and cane as part of the Alpine stereo upgrade. Has gotten wet. No issues to date.

At home it really depends on the room. Under the seats could be best or one of a thousand other places, depends on the room, subs, enclosure and desired goals. Many also state for home audio or theater that 3+ subs is best

In a Jeep the best can be related to SQ, all out volume, keeping cargo area open and the list goes on.

For me the best is keeping the cargo area open and also stealth where no box is seen, I didnít want the JL stealth due to not being stealth. Thus under the seat subs is the best for me.

I would also take one better quality sub vs two cheaper subs, especially when box volume/design is sacrificed.

LOL!
Actually at home I have One 12" sub across the room and the other one is indeed under the couch! Ever sat in one of those D-box theater seats? It feels a lot like that.

Point being... subs are as much about feel as they are sound... maybe even more so feel.

Are you saying you have two subs facing each other directly? That causes bass cancellation and therefore you do not have awesome bass. You probably just think it is because you are used to Jeep crappy stock stereo.

Not necessarily. Just because they are opposite one another doesn't automatically mean bass cancellation. It depends on how you have them set up. They can be additive or subtractive depending how you have the phase set up.

Yep. Also bass is no directional and there for in room, can be placed in several places. Next to TV, next to couch/chair, behind sitting area, etc.

Stealth options are limited. If you want bass- get the Kicker. Period. My father-in law designs and manufactures loudspeakers. He agrees the Kicker bass is ridiculous. With a little caveat because he's not exactly a fan of Skrillex; why I need bass. LOL.
Unfortunately for me I don't use my backseat so as much as I loved the Kicker....he built me a custom sub where the JL would go. (I wasn't allowed to purchase JL equipment under penalty of death) If anyone is in the market I will sell my Kicker sub.
