brake buddy question

how in the heck do i hook up the power to my new brake system for my towed jeep when all the instructions for towing my jeep say to disconnect the battery??? sheesh!


I know you all are tired of hearing my woes about getting my wrangler X ready to tow! I thought id about got it til i ran into this dilemma!

The instruction for disconnecting the battery is a hold over back to the days Jeeps had a steering wheel lock. Manual hasn't been updated yet. There are several threads discussing the issue.

alageezer is correct. I don't know if the X model has a steering wheel lock. If it doesn't, then no need to disconnect power. The battery disconnect was if you had to leave the key in and turn it so it would unlock the wheel. At that point the Jeep would draw a small amount of power and would run the battery down.

09 was the change over year for the steering lock and from what I understand it happened during the production run. Easy way to tell is pull key from ignition, elevate front tires, turn them from stop to stop, if they don't lock then no need to leave your key in the ignition or disconnect the battery.
