Chinese "OEM" navigation radios

Has anyone installed one in their Jeep?

I had one a few cars ago in a Mazda, and I could not say enough good things about it. For less than $500 you get a radio that looks as good if not better than a stock radio with, usually, additional features.

Aside from cheesy graphics the last one I had worked great and was well worth the funds. The current one I've seen on eBay for the Jeep that has what I think to be the most worth wild "OEM" look is this one: Car DVD GPS Navigation Stereo Radio for Jeep Grand Cherokee Chrysler Dodge RAM | eBay

Anyone have one or similar willing to comment?

Thanks.

For $250 I'd chance it but says up to 2010 only. I have a '15.

Best of luck. I would not gamble $250.

On the other hand (said with sarcasm), "what could go wrong?".

Ended up ordering this unit as it ships via Amazon: Eonon GA5177F

http://www.amazon.com/Eonon-Chrysler...=Eonon+GA5177F

The Eeonon d5177zu also looks to be a good option but doesn't ship via Amazon and I didn't want to wait.

http://www.amazon.com/Eonon-Navigati.../dp/B016QEYDD8

The main difference between the GA5177F and d5177zu is the OS. The GA uses Andriod which means I can hack it to my hearts content and will be updated for a long time to come. The D uses WinCE which while tried and true is gone and dead, most units have their flaws.

I should have the radio installed this weekend and will provide feedback once I can play around with it.

PLEASE come back and give us a review once you have it installed! I've been looking for an Android based head unit that doesn't suck or cost an arm/leg for a long time...

Ditto. It's a shame that only OEM HUs have built in Sirius or I'd be all over some of these after market units.

Installed one of these (similar) in my 99 Cobra, the unit is great. Some have questioned the GPS but i do no use it very often. Mine wasn't a specific vehicle install.

assuming unlimited data (which I have) you can get the app only XM for like $4.99 a month and accomplish the same goal.

I had XM in my last few cars but cancelled it when I got the Jeep, I knew my HU plans so I didn't see the need to keep it when Pandora is better and I have Amazon Prime if want specific music.

In all honesty I'm a bit scared. I've had a few WinCE HU's in the past so I know their issues and how to work with them. As an avid Apple Fanboy this will take some getting used to.

I will be back /terminator.

Woot.

Should have it installed Saturday night or Sunday morning with a lengthy review.

They do look a little odd when out of the car, but you can't tell once installed. And as you said, all that new empty space should help with cooling.

But if your unit ends up working well, I could just as easily go with it.

That was a single DIN? It looks like the same size as the one you ordered...?

I'm in a mountain(ee) type area. Lot's of hills, valleys, ridges and forests. Very little in the way of AM radio, 4G or 4GLTE coverage. Satellite radio doesn't need cell coverage and not only provides music but I can get baseball, football, basketball etc. without worrying about reaching an AM signal.

I know I know most of the better HUs are Sirius ready, but that's not nearly the same thing.

I know many don't like the 430 and 730, and most think the premium sound packages are way overpriced. But if I had it to do over again I'd get the Nav head unit and premium sound with the amp and sub. Looking to buy and install aftermarket seems to be far more expensive and a yuuge PITA if you are not really skilled at audio install or have limited time and want as close to plug and play as you can get.

This unit looks similar to the Insane Audio JK1001, but actually a little more functional. Better map of the hard buttons. and a LOT cheaper! I'd like to see a review on this unit one day....

Watching this one too. I'm not much of an audiophile and have the base junker CD player in my 2013. Integrated GPS and some of the other features of these would be nice.

If things in the audio world are the same as the rest of the electronic world, most of the big name aftermarket stuff is made in China too.

The face of the one I linked to is a full 2 DIN, but the actual components only use a 1 DIN setup. So on the outside of the dash, it's a 2 DIN, on the inside of the dash its a 1 DIN.

I have to agree with that. When I was looking at the 2015, the two items I wanted was the Alpine speaker system and the 430. I had to get the Nav to get the hands free, but disappointed in the upgrades to the NAV. I have had the Garmin 1390T for 6 years now and got the lifetime map upgrades for $99 (4 times a year). I may wind up putting it on top of the dash instead of using the built in NAV as the maps get further out of date.

The one feature I love with the 430 which I have not seen on an after market is the hard drive. I had about 150 songs recorded onto the drive, but back it down to a little over 90.

Looking at some aftermarket HU's, quite a few now have sd or microsd slots. Much, much better than a hard drive in terms of durability, flexibility and weight.

I was reading the reviews of a few of these and many had issues; I particularly liked the ones that had gauges with programmable PIDS. I hope it works out for you.

Radio was delivered yesterday.

Opened the Amazon box to see a grey mailer bag. Opened the grey mailer bag to see two rounds of bubble wrap. Got through the two rounds of bubble wrap to find a very heavy weight cardboard branded box. Opened the branded box to see all the typical packaging and supports you would expect to see in an electronic box.

I know it's a small unrelated piece to the quality puzzle but 5 stars for shipping and packaging none the less.

Hoping to get the radio and backup camera installed Sunday and will provide initial feedback. Will post again after using it for the week.

If you can, try and get some pics during the install as well.

Interestingly enough the unit is a single din with double din face unlike the listing.

The unit is not fully plug n play as you would still need an antenna adapter.

womp womp, it didn't power up. Tried changing the fuse as they sent a spare and still nothing. Kind of hard for me to diagnose anything else as the main harness and canbus harness IS plug n play.

The unit is on its way back to Amazon and once my account is credited for the purchase I will be ordering the Joying that Etoimos suggested.

Amazon.com: JOYING Dodge Ram Challenger Jeep Wrangler/Grand Cherokee Chrysler Android 4.4.4 Quad Core 6.2 Inch 1 Din Head Unit Car Stereo autoradio Touch Screen GPS Navigation System,Support Bluetooth/WiFi/3G/4G: Car Electronics

more updates to follow when the new unit comes in.

Did you try to remove the little white connector off of the factory antenna plug? I know on the JK1001, which looks just like that unit, the instructions say to remove the white connector from the factory radio antenna plug. after you remove that, it plugs right into the back of the unit.
