Cooling fan(s) problem p0480

Earlier this year I would occasional get the p0480 code. Did all of the normal troubleshooting, wires, fuse, relay, etc. Reset the code and no problems until a few weeks or so later. Finally could not clear the code, took fan off and hooked red/black to battery and norhing. Ordered a new OEM fan online, installed and no problems for 3 months. Now exactly the same problem.

I know on the 2013+ there is a third wire, PDM. So this time I tried +/- from fan to battery and nothing, also jumpered that third wire to + and still nothing. I get 12v to the connector that goes to the fan.

Any ideas? I'm pretty sure a new fan/motor will get me going again. But having a second fan last just 3 months is either real bad luck or there is something else going on.

Any ideas are appreciated!

I ran into similar issues and lack of knowledge about the 2013+ JK cooling fan setup.

My fix was a simple one, but I don't know if yours was/will-be. Here is what I ran into:

Good luck!

This is an excerpt from some PDFs I found for my 2013 3.6.

It looks like either of the two should make it spin, and both will be the high speed.
