craigslist axles

Is there a website that has a list of all the older axles that will work in a specific vehicle/whats best for that vehicle?

Looking to buy and build my own axle. But there are so many different old types on Craigslist that I have no idea which is even a good deal.

The most "plug and play" would be a ford dana 60 front, and 14 bolt rear. River raider makes hubs that accept the jk speed sensors, and artec makes control arm mount kits that will bolt up to stock jk suspension.

But if you are doing custom suspension and don't care about the electronics, there aren't too many limitations.

99-04 and 05+ from Ford. Be careful though cause some 99-04 are d50s. And 99-06 chevy 2500s for the 14 bolt. Only cause artec makes brackets for these and are easier to work with. Unless you know how to make your own brackets and don't care about all the lights you'll have any axles you pick will be good. Also ford is 8x170 and chevy is 8x6.5 so two different bolt patterns unless you find an old kingpin 60 it has the 8x6.5. Also the 05+ is closer to the same width as the 14 bolt. The 99-04 is just a bit shorter.

I found a 1980 14bolt rear and an 04 front 60. I didn't look too hard, but couldn't find anything about the compatibility of the 1980 with the 04.

Just make sure they are the same width WMS to WMS if not you'll have to run spacers on on axle or the other. Idk either about the 1980 14 bolt that's why I'll stay with the 99-06 ,07 cause artec sells the tone rings so your speedo and abs will still work. And it's almost the exact width as the 05+. Check out pirate that's where I found most my information from.
