Does your front drive shaft do this?

Put my wrangler in for the air bag recall. Had them look at my front drive shaft as i noticed the play/clunk. Said its normal for the driveshaft splines to make that clunk.

All my neighbors with wranglers are at work right now so I cant prove the dealer wrong.

your thoughts?

I'll crawl under mine after work and let you know. One thing I can tell you is that sounds like the same sound I get when tapping the gas in 4lo. So I wouldn't be surprised. JKUR with 15k miles.

It's a little hard to tell exactly how much play there is in your DS because as you push on the shaft, you also move the camera. My first feeling is, if there is enough play to see movement or hear a KLUNK, it is too much play. I will check my wife's JK and see how much play there is at 12,000 miles and get back with you. My 4 door's fr. DS lasted about 1000 miles and blew the grease boot and the dealer replaced it with an Adams DS under warranty. I had questioned them about a week earlier about extreme angle on the rzeppa joint with a 4.5" lift. Two weeks later, it was right back with grease all over everything. They replaced it! Anyway, in my semi-professional opinion, any movement you can see or hear is not good and might cost you a transfer case. That movement causes vibration and transfers back to the transfer case and will tear it up.

Thx for the video
Same on mine 2018 JKUS with 10K
Went to the dealer got the usual "its normal".
I googled the parameters of the bearings on the TC output shaft and it doesn't look like there should be any noticeable play at all.

I looked at 2 other wranglers. a 2012 with 30 000km and it had very little play. Looked at a 2016 with 120 000km for sale at the dealer and the front DS had more play then mine.

I have no slinging grease, so I guess time will tell.

2013 jeep coming up on 70,000miles, I checked the driveshafts the other day and all is good. The only movement should be in the gear backlash when you rotate the driveshaft not at the CV/universals. There should be no play when pushing up/down and right/left at the spline or CV/universals. Movement there is a sign of wear. Play at the spline should be monitored. Play at the CV/universals should probably be fixed soon.
