Dome Light. How do I get the bulbs out?

I cannot figure out how to get the existing bulbs out of the dome light on my 2016 Wrangler. I only have 200 miles on the car and I don't feel like breaking anything just yet.....

Anybody?

Why do you want them out?

I had issues with the lights staying on when I would rather they were off. I tuned them off on the stick and used electrical tape to tape them off. I kept turning them on by mistake / hitting the stick.

Ran that way for months then set them so that the light comes on when door is open they turn off when door is closed. Again used tape to keep the switch in that position.

I know not what you asked but hopefully something you can use.

I don't think it's any different than my 14. Kinda squeeze the front and back together, while pulling down on the back. The lens should come off.

This works for me, anyway.

You just have to get a good grip on the bulbs and pull them out. You may have to wiggle them a bit.

You can try needle nose pliers with the tips wrapped in tape, so you can grip the bulbs without breaking them.

Don't think the OP was asking how to get the lens off.

I just pulled the bulb with some pliers honestly, you could also push the bulb from the back with something as well. I just did it yesterday I put some cree leds instead for the dome light and license plate.

If your finger slips off try a rubber glove or small piece of bike tire innertube.

there are metal clips that need to be pulled down a little, then the bulb slips right out.

Thanks for all the input. I have been busy with work so I have not had a chance to check in. I didn't try to remove them yet. No problem getting the lens off just the bulbs. And thr reason I want them out is so I can put LED bulbs in. I like that nice white light.

Has anyone got any pictures of the dome lights LED, with white light and the floor and mirror stock LED's? How does it look? I was concerned that it might look odd. Want to see how it looks before spending the $20. Yes, Im cheap!

For a better grip, use the thin doctor inspection gloves, I had issues with side marker bulbs and using the inspection bulbs gives you a good non slip grip. I actually tries the needle nose plier and tape, ended up breaking the bulb. With the gloves, you can feel how much pressure you're putting on the glass when squeezing and pulling.
