Driveshaft Length

I'm looking to add an inch to my lift in the near future, but right now I need a new front drive shaft. To get an accurate DS length I plan to use jack and lift the frame 1 inch in front and back then measure. Will it hurt to run the driveshaft I order based off that measurement before I add another inch to my lift?

Most aftermarket driveshaft places just want to know te amount of lift you have. Adam's and Tatton's come to mind. I bought from Tatton's and all he wanted was lift height and year and model of JK.

I just sent nearly that same question to a known off road DS maker. I asked if a DS set for my current 2 1/2" lift would work appropriately if I went to a 3 1/2 or 4" later...
Answer is pending.

nwbronco Tom Woods requires a measurement. Each DS is custom made.

LHC30 Awesome let me know what they say. I'm wanting to order my DS for the higher lift but am wanting to run it with the shorter lift for a while.

Never bought from Tom Woods, so I was not aware. I have bought from Tatton's and he pretty much just asks the lift, and model. 3 for 3, no issues. And the one I have on my rig is now on it's third rig. ( I went through an identity crisis) From 3.5 to 5 back down to 3 inches of lift. No issues.

Just a follow up on my question about needing a different length DS when increasing the lift...At the Lucas show last weekend, I spoke to three different DS makers. All said there was enough lenght in their slip joints to allow a 2 1/2" to 4" (or higher) lift with the same DS as long as you start with the 2 1/2"...
