Dumb question about license plate removal

So I removed all of the license plate as I'm relocating it to the spare tire. However, there are two silver pieces that are behind the stock license plate that I don't know how to remove.

Here is a picture. Does anyone know how to remove these. I'm feeling really stupid right now lol.

I'm going to guess that the top and bottom of those are popped out on the inside. Are you able to slip a finger or mirror through the hole in the middle and feel around to confirm that?

You might be able to pry the top of those clips down a bit and back them out carefully.

Are you putting on a license plate delete piece of trim in place of the old holder? If so, wopuldn't it use those cage nuts as attachment points?

You can pry them out with a screw driver. It will scratch the paint and prob distort/bend the metal. Or you can remove the tail light and use a pair of angled needle nose and squeeze them together and they will pop out. Just buy one of the "license plate delete" plugs that snap in there and leave them be..

Try pinching them from behind the bumper with some pliers, just move the foam cover out of the way.

Thank you!

I bought the Mopar delete but I think those silver brackets need to be removed for it to fit. I'll double check

So from the bottom of the panel you can push up some foam, just behind the wheel well. I slipped in some tiny channel locks, pinched the tabs, and pulled them out with no damage to the paint

But...But...But, there's one in the door jamb. (that's sarcasm, btw.)

I really like that! I think I'll be ordering one!

I'm heading out to the Jeep with a beer now to find the opener.

Where should I pry first?

It's where the door latches. I tried it once and broke the bottle off in my hand. So I just use the handy dandy one on my keychain instead of walking all the way out to my driveway.
