dynomax 39522 vs magna flow 17143

Which exhaust is better, has less drone, and is quieter?

Probably not a lot of folks that have used both, but I can give my experience with the 39522. With the hard top on, didn't notice but with the top and doors on there is an excruciating drone on the passenger side of all places(muffler is on driver side). It was enough to give a person a headache, and it is LOUD. Guys wheeling behind me let me know that.

That said, I did some research and made a few mods. I added back a race bullet muffler in front of it and it alleviated all of my issues. I did have to weld in a few additional muffler hangers but it actually sounds pretty good now.

That's crazy, a lot of people said that they didn't have a drone or it wasn't too bad. The race bullet muffler from dynomax? Do you have a part number? So you no longer have a drone, how loud is it now compared to previously?

I think the bullet is a magnaflow. Dont remember the part #. Much quieter now. Still a touch louder than stock.

Sounds like you got it nailed down with the exhaust, I'm having a hard time pulling the trigger on an exhaust, should I order the exhaust kit (39522)? Do you find you are happier with the system (in addition to the magnaflow bullet)

Actually, to be brutally honest, knowing what I know now, I would stay stock. Unless you need the real estate up there for something else(I actually mounted an onboard air compressor and tank there to use up the space). There arent really any performance gains to be made and IMO there is no way to make the 3.6 sound good.

Hey, i did make a mistake. It was a dynomax race bullet. I inclduded a summit screen capture. Would need a couple extra clamps and a short length of exhaust tube along with the hangers.

Ok, thank you for the picture, good insight, I was gonna say I figured it was a dynomax, so you don't have any drone with that setup right? Also, the main reason that I'm looking at this exhaust is because my rear track bar is coming into contact with the exhaust at the bend just above the bar. I don't really care for a exotic sound, just something that isn't too loud and doesn't have any drone. The shop that installed my lift kit did a horrible job, wondering if they made a mistake somehow in relation to the exhaust hitting the track bar, I even have the exhaust spacers in. I would stay stock but every time I hit a speed bump I hear a scrapping-like sound and I can't stand waiting around anymore lol.

And this exact model works with the 39522? Ive seen different setups using different race bullet from dynomax.

Honestly don't remember 100% if it the same one. I think it is but as long as it has the right inlet size it should be good.

Thank you so much for answering all of these questions in this thread (on the other one as well). I haven't seen many people mention mounting it behind the driver side passenger seat (M.O.R.E bracket), is this not a good idea? I feel as though it is easiest to access and would provide better airflow then under the seat. Does your compressor get dirty mounted there? I ordered the flow master 39522 with the bullet you provided a picture of. I checked and inlets are all 2.5 inches. Should be good to go.

IDK. I just put my setup in the back since i have the space there. I have a remote inlet in the tail light compartment.

Im sure it will get dirty under there. No real world experience as I just installed, but it is supposed to be able to resist the elements.

Hope you like the muffler setup.

Probably, but with a good washing I'm sure it will be just fine. I'm sure I will as that muffler setup has some pretty good reviews. Jeeps are awesome, very customizable and what not, so much to learn! How was extending the wires for you?
