Exclamation Electronic Sway Bar

I am planning on purchasing a used Electronic Sway Bar with Actuator to replace the broken one on my 2014 Rubicon. I was wondering, can I simply install the new one and connect to electrical connector, or will I need to have dealer flash system so that new sway bar is recognized by my Jeep.
I am not sure if each sway bar is electronically synced to the specific Jeep ViN
Thanks in advance.
Ray

It's an electrical part. If the system is already on the jeep then all you need to do is install it plug it in and you should be good to go.

Question Update

I just got off phone with Jeep service dept rep and he has told me that the sway bar is associated to the VIN of vehicle and I can not put a used sway bar on my Jeep. What the hell? I can't seem to get a definitive answer, and a search of all the forums seems to just confuse me even more. I think if I could get a really cheap damaged unit I would gut it and take out the parts I need to convert to manual disconnect. Problem is, I need an engagement fork from inside and have been unable to find anyone who can provide or ship this to Canada. If anyone has any suggestions or has installed a used sway bar and can tell me what the procedure is and if it can be done I would appreciate any guidance. I did install the JKS cable disconnect, but when I drilled the hole in the engagement fork, it was partially off centre and I think this may be causing the cable/spring to bind. Thus reason I need another fork. Photo link attached

Think the service dept rep misunderstood your sway bar issue. Regardless check out the EVO solution for simplicity.

Angry Mopar Electronic Sway Bar Kit

Found a .pdf online and it states....

Vehicle VIN must be updated with the sales code of the added accessory in order to enable system functionality. Using the DealerCONNECT website and a StarSCAN diagnostic tool, complete the procedure below:
• Log on to https://dealerconnect.chrysler.com
• In the "Vehicle Option" screen under the "Global Claims System" category in the "Service" tab, enter vehicle VIN and add sales code(s) noted below as a "Dealer Installed Option".
• SHG (Electronic Front Sway Bar Disconnect - also know as ASBS (Active Smart-Bar System) )
• Confirm that the new sales code has been successfully added to the VIN.
With the StarSCAN diagnostic tool connected to both the internet (via Ethernet port or wireless connection) and the vehicle, follow the steps below:

IN THE INITIAL START UP SCREEN
• PRESS VEHICLE PREPARATION
• TOGGLE DOWN AND HIGHLIGHT RESTORE VEHICLE CONFIGURATION
• PRESS START
• PRESS NEXT>
• IF NECESSARY, SELECT PROPER VEHICLE LINE AND MODEL YEAR AND PRESS NEXT>
• CONFIRM CORRECT SELECTION AND PRESS NEXT>
• ENTER VEHICLE VIN USING ON-SCREEN KEYBOARD OR CONFIRM THAT AUTO-FILLED VIN MATCHES VEHICLE VIN PLATE AND PRESS NEXT>
• PRESS OK
• ENTER USER ID, PASSWORD AND DEALER CODE USING ON-SCREEN KEYBOARD AND PRESS OK
• WAIT FOR VEHICLE CONFIGURATION DATA TO BE DOWNLOADED AND THEN PRESS NEXT>
• PRESS NEXT>
• CONFIRM THAT VEHICLE CONFIGURATION HAS BEEN PROGRAMMED SUCCESSFULLY
• NOTE ON-SCREEN INSTRUCTIONS AND PRESS FINISH

I am more confused by the minute. Might be time to consider manual disconnect.

I believe that would be to add an electronic disconnect to a vehicle that did not originally have it. If you have a Rubicon you do not need to do that. You are not adding an accessory, you are placing one. Just get a replacement and rock and roll.

You're overthinking this, put the new one in, plug it in, go wheeling. The above steps would be for adding an Edisconnect to a sport/sahara.

What he, and everyone else, said. Replace the E Disconnect sway bar with an E Disconnect sway bar. Like for like. It should be fine.

You would think, but then again I had to do a few programming steps on my Audi when I replaced the battery to let it know a new battery was installed.

I would skip the EDisco and go with a something like a AntiRock. We just had a guy on Wednesday, his JKU caught fire when the EDisco motor shorted and caught fire as the harness burnt up. It should be to us on Monday so we can remove everything and fix the wiring issue. I would think twice...

Says it right at the top. If it wasn't there before you need to flash, otherwise you're fine.

I was able to add it to my 2013 sport

Pretty straight forward on my 2013 sport base.

1) Install the oem rubi swaybar + actuator.

2) Wire it into the can bus using the instructions. (https://www.quadratec.com/sites/defa...ions/98417.pdf)

3) 2012+ Plug in the switch (56054278AB) to the dash. There is a Lin connector on the left of the dash under the left most AC vent. No splicing needed. Mount the switch by drilling into the dash. Replace the axle lock switch with a blank.

4) You DO need to enable it, I bought this program for $50 and its been working great for about 6 mos now.
https://appcar-diagfca.com/en/

5) done

Hope this helps a bit to clarify that you do not need the dealer to flash your system. You can do it yourself with the tool in step 4.

Best,
Zil

Like others have said, if you already have the electronic sway bar, just remove the broken one and replace it with a new/used one.
You DO NOT need the dealer

I just purchased one and added the Pro-Cal to shut the light off. I hit the switch and the motor isn't turning. I took it apart once, I am not doing it again.

I remember seeing a company sells an air actuator for the stock one. Just remove the motor and bolt it up. Use a rocker for the air solenoid. Disconnect when you want.
