Fortin long range remote RF642W install with evo all for jeep wrangler JK 2012-2015

As you know the range on the jeep wrangler remote sucks big time! Fortin now has a long range remote kit that will work well with the evo-all. You will need to buy three things to get long range remote working:

1. 2 way remote kit: Fortin RF642W 2 WAY LED RF KIT FOR EVO ONE EVO ALL 3500ft Range TWO WAY | eBay
2. RF-A2A: Fortin RF A2A Remote Adapter FOR EVO ALL Module RF641W OR RF642W Kits | eBay
a. Note: Canadians can get the complete kit here: https://lockdownsecuritycanada.ca/co...-button-rf-kit
3. Fortin data link v2: Fortin Flash Link Updater 2 NEW | eBay

Once you receive these 3 items in the mail do the following to update evo all to be compatible:
1. Remove evo-all module from car
2. Install fortin flash link software: https://fortin.ca/en/support/flashlinkmanager.html
3. Launch flash link software after install and plug in data link module to USB port (red circle thing)
4. Plug 4 pin connector and wait 20 seconds. If successfully connected, the evo-all red LED should be glowing red.
5. Go to the evo all flash upgrade tab and select the latest firmware (I used the 2016-09-23 update) and click on flash
6. Once the flash procedure is done (Blue LED on data link module will be flashing) unplug the 4 pin connector to the evo-all then plug it back in
7. Select EVO-All Options tab
8. Enable the following opions: H and H2 (see page 2 of instructions http://fortin.ca/download/34771/EVO-...in%20FTX64.pdf
a. Note: I had the remote start stop problem so I only enabled H and H2
b. A1 to A11, C1 D, D1.6, D2 H2 should be on
9. Click on save options, click on exit button (lower right) and unplug 4 pin connector on the EVO-ALL

Grab the evo-all module go to your jeep and follow these instructions. Because we reflashed the EVO-All module you must reprogram your car key or you will get the start/stop problem with the remote starter:
1. Follow programing procedure on page 4: http://fortin.ca/download/5171/evo-a...5_20120713.pdf
2. Once successfully programmed take you stock remote and click on lock X3. If the jeep starts and does not shut off, you have successfully programmed it!
3. Unplug the 4 pin black connector
4. Grab fm2w antenna kit and plug the black wire with black connector end to the antenna
5. Grab rf-a2a adapter kit and Plug black antenna wire with dark blue connector to the blue connector on the rf-a2a
6. Plug 4 pin black connector from T-harness to the black female connector on the rf-a2a adapter
7. Plug male black 4 pin connector on rf-a2a to evo-all
a. See instruction diagram “connection guide with T-harness”: http://fortin.ca/download/34771/EVO-...in%20FTX64.pdf
8. See page three “programming remote transmitters” guide
9. See page four to program remotes: http://fortin.ca/download/34771/EVO-...in%20FTX64.pdf
10. After programming long range remotes, press button 3 for 2 seconds and see if the jeep remote starts. See remote button instructions here: http://fortin.ca/download/25991/f201...x64-2w_ang.pdf

11. If it all works, go grab a beer and snack at this point

Congrats now you have a long range remote working but now you have to mount the antenna properly!
1. Un screw and remove both sun visors ( you will need a torx 10 screw driver
2. Remove top left corner windshield trim piece (note there is one of those PITA screw plugs )
3. Remove bottom left windshield trim piece
4. Remove corner left dash trim piece that faces driver’s door
5. Remove top middle windshield dash piece
6. Unplug black antenna wire at the RF-A2A module (blue connectors)
7. Run and zip tie antenna wire along power wires for the mirror
8. Run antenna wires under dash and reconnect to RF-A2A blue connector
9. Test antenna by clicking the unlock button on long range remote. IF working proceeded
10. Re-install top middle windshield dash piece
11. Reinstall corner left dash trim piece that faces driver’s door
12. Reinstall bottom left windshield trim piece
13. Reinstall top left corner windshield trim piece
14. Re-install both sun visors
15. Remove sticky tape from antenna and mount it to top middle windshield piece (see pic below
a. Note: the reason I mounted it to the trim piece and not the windshield is that JKs go through a lot of windshields! That way you won’t have to re-glue the antenna to the new windshield

Start stop problem with remote starter fuction.

IF you get this issue as I did when following Fortin instructions, it’s a problem with the module communicating with the stock security system. The way I got it to work was to reprogram the module with the stock remotes. (See procedure: http://fortin.ca/download/5171/evo-a...5_20120713.pdf )

If anybody needs their fortin evo all/ evo one device programmed in the Ottawa area, send me a PM. I'll do it for a small fee.

Great write up. One of the first things that I noticed was the poor range on the remote.

Just wish there was a more "plug and play" type solution for idiots like me haha.

I saw on Mythbustera or some such show a while back that putting the fob on your forehead before hitting the button somehow extends the range.....significantly. Haha

For those in Canada, you can get the remote system and adaptor cheap at this site:
