Front aussie locker question. need new carrier?

The spartan locker for the jeep jk front dana 30 says that a different carrier is needed when installing this locker. The aussie website mentions nothing of this. I have the aussie locker in the mail and want to know if i need to purchase any additional parts before i go to install.

EDIT: 2013 jku sport with 3.73 gears and factory open front diff

The Aussie locker is a drop in locker, AKA lunch box locker.

The Spartan is also considered a lunch box locker, if I'm not mistaken, yet it still requires additional parts

In your original post OP you said that the locker manufacturer indicated a new carrier is needed?

According to what I found on the Web not so. The spider gears need to come out, but that's it. At least with what I found.

You should only need a carrier swap if regearing (down) from a 3.21 ratio. With your 3.73 you should just need basic hand tools for the Spartan install.

On edit: here's a link to try. Click the Spartan Locker link and install instructions with photos will be downloaded. Looks like standard lunch box install to me.

Spartan Locker for Dana 30 differential with 27 spline axles, includes heavy-duty cross pin shaft - SL D30-27

This link right here says what i was asking about.

"Technical Notes: If purchasing this unit for a Non-Rubicon JK front, you will also need to purchase carrier case part number YC D706008."

Give them a call. Here's what it LOOKS like to me...

Looks to me that there's an assumption that a non-Rubicon is a 3.21 ratio, which won't fit the locker.

Ironically, it says D30 27-spline, which is automatically a non-Rubicon axle on a JK.

Anyhow, contact them and confirm this...but I'd bet that's what's happening here.

Ah. Yeah. That would make sense

With the 3.73 carrier, the TORQ locker is a direct fit.
