Gas tank problem

I was hoping someone might be able to give a suggestion or thoughts on a gas tank issue I've been having. I recently purchased a 4 dr JK and after a very short time, the gas cap light and the check engine light came on. The check engine was a P0456 or something like that, but said very small leak. I did some basics, but it eventually turned out to be a issue with the top of the gas tank. There's an area which I guess is some type of emissions control that has a plastic top and connects to some of the hoses/tubing. Looking around, although it looks like it comes out, it appears to be part of the tank. I have attached a stock photo with the area circled. This top as area that looks like it was pushed in a bit and has a "V" shaped crack. I'm sure I can get by without fixing it, but the gas cap and check engine lights are SO annoying. Anyone ever come across this or have any thoughts? If the tank was a couple hundred bucks, I'd be ok, but the cheapest I found was $550 and I don't think that was with shipping. Just very annoyed right now. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

The part you circled is part of the tank and isn't serviceable. Maybe there's a way to repair it, but I recommend replacing the tank. If you decide to go that route also replace the gasket and lock ring where the fuel pump sits in the tank when you switch it over.

I figured it wasn't serviceable which really sucks since it's so expensive. I really don't know how that piece would be cracked and kinda pushed in. I'm guessing the dealership that sold it to me knew about it and cleared it. I know comes on immediately after starting it. I can't image that happened in the less than 1,000 miles I've driven it. Frustrating.

Could you maybe put some JB Weld or silicone sealant on the crack?
