Gascap Warning

Tonight I was driving to the store, and all of a sudden my dash puts GASCAP up. I filled up two days, and I hadn't had the warning yet. So I thought it was unusual that it came on, when the cap hasn't been used lately. I pulled over. Made sure it was tight on there. And the warning came back on. HELP!

I try taking the negative off of the battery for about twenty minutes. See if that clears the code. If that doesn't work you should take it to the dealer.

Just take it to the dealer they probably need to re-set the sensor or update it. Same thing happened with my clutch peddle.

Same thing just happened to my 12 JKU. Found out the gas cap would loosen up on it's own while driving so I replaced it with a new gas cap. Fixed!

It could take a few days with at least 2-3 on/off cycles to go out. If it doesn't and you're still under 3/36 take it in. You might need another gas cap.

X2

My gas cap would loosen up and twice it popped off. Annoying as hell to have your check engine light come on after 4000ish miles.
