Help me decide - 1.5" or 2.5" RK Stock Mod

I need your help. I need to get on with my build. I have a 2015 JKU Sport

I have already:
- Rancho 9000's (29/30)
- 17x8.5 Level 8 Trackers (4.5 bs)
- Procal

On Order: 315/70/17 BFG AT's

I am having a damned time trying to decide between the 1.5" or 2.5" RK Stock Mod kit. I want to keep the suspension upgrades as mild as possible and realize both shock sets in real life will net more than advertised height. At the present time I don't plan on having heavy bumpers or skids. I do mild trails here in So Cal. I would like a setup up just high enough to not rub on a mild trail. I also realize the BFG's on order will net 33.5 - 34 loaded.

Thanks

With the 1.5 you likely won't have to worry about caster correction, but with the 2.5 you will need to address caster. The 2.5 stock mod does not correct caster.

On the other hand, you will likely need flat fenders to run those 35's on a 1.5 lift. The 2.5 would handle it, but you might need to add more bump stop if you get tire rub on the fenders.

I suggest the 2.5 and add a set of TF fixed lower control arms for caster correction.

Don't forget to add bump stops for those tires...

Just out of curiosity... With the RK 1.5" coils, do you have to have the adjustable front track bar?

I have front upper and lower ACAs, and the sway links is a simple fix. Was just curious if I could just buy the coils and not spend the extra $ on the stock mod?

On the RK 1.5 for a 4 door, no you don't need trac bars or brackets.

these advertised spring lift #'s are all over the place. Via RK, 1.5" on a stock Wrangler will yield 1.75" lift. There are many members on this forum alone that got more like 2.5" on a stock JKU. Wish these spring manufacturers would give a few different scenarios of expected lift.

Their latest version of springs isn't far off of advertised. I have the 4dr RK 2.5's and got 3-3/8 front and 2-1/4 rear which is basically a 2-3/4" lift and I'm light with stock bumpers front and rear.

I just got the coils and LCAs and am happy. If/when I get a new front track bar I will look at the TF. I did get a TF rear axle track bar bracket because I think it's better than what comes with stock mod.

I have had both the RK 1.5" and 2.5" on the same vehicle 14 jkur. get the 2.5" if you are running 35's. I have bushwacker flatfenders and with those shocks you are going to be a flexing fool and even with the 2.5" you will rub fully flexed.

x2 I have the RK front track bar and I don't like it. I wish I would have gone TF or jks. it is not an absolute must have as my axle was only shifted 1/2-3/4". It is withing 1/16" of an inch now tho. I can feel no difference in how it drives either before or after the adj track bar.

Thanks for the input. Are those 35" or the 285/75?

Your rig looks sweet. Ive been following your posts all over the forum as you've installed all of the systems Ive been looking at.

So to sum it up. With the 2.5" RK kit, on an unloaded JKU I should see about 3.5" o of lift upfront. With this amount of lift I will run into geometry issues won't I? I'm looking at this kit, minus the shocks.

Rock Krawler JKU 2.5 Stock Mod System Kit - JK25SM-4KIT

Anything else on top of this I will need?

Here are the 2 common options.

The AEV control arm drop brackets:

AEV Conversions NTH20410AD - AEV Geometry Correction Front Control Arm Brackets for 07-15 Jeep® Wrangler & Wrangler Unlimited JK - Quadratec

There is also a Rancho version of the brackets:

Rancho RS6250B - RANCHO® Control Arm Bracket for 07-15 Jeep® Wrangler & Wrangler Unlimited JK with 3-4" Lift - Quadratec

Or the choice jadmt and I like at lower lift heights, the TF Sport LCA's:

Teraflex JK Sport Flexarms - Front Lower Kit

He has a discount code in here: https://www.wranglerforum.com/f123/te...t-1191361.html

2.5" i love my teraflex with my 33" tires. I wouldn't think twice about doing it again, and i'm very conservative.

You can get the teraflex sport flex arms for $180 to adjust the caster or the $100 aev bracket.

I have the teraflex adjustable control arms but if i were to do it again, i'd get the sport flex arms for $180.

Thanks for the reply. I am thinking about the TF BB as well. At least with a spacer lift, I would know exactly how much lift I would get.
