Hemi, or LS swap questions

Hi,

I've been on this site for a while, mostly in the TJ section. I just got "done" on a 5.9L Magnum swap on my TJ, which is now for sale. (Got way too many toys and a couple need to go to fund the JK). Once sold, I want to do a V8 swap in my 2008 JKUR.

Right now, I'm starting to think about my engine choices. In either case, I will go with an automatic trany, either a 4L60E, or a REF.

I will also put in 4.88 gears, a mild lift and about 33" tires.

I will be doing all the work, so labor does not factor into the equation.

I want to keep the 241OR, so from the T-case forward will be replaced.

I will buy a complete wrecked vehicle as a doner for parts.

Even with me doing all the work, cost is always a factor.

The chevy trany will require an adopter, is this the case with a RFE?
Will the adopter move the trany and engine too far forward and making fitment more difficult?

Will my dash and gauges work if I go with a Hemi? I think this alone may make me go with a Hemi.

Can't say I'm a big fan of the Hemi. I've had 2 Hemi work trucks and they both suck. But since the Jeep will not be a daily driver, I am open to it.

All thoughts are appreciated. I have'nt thought this through all the way. I'm just starting to think about it seriously.

I would like to settle on a LS, or Hemi, so I can start looking for a donor.

Thanks.

Check out the bruiser junk yard dog kit. It should have everything you’d need.

While I am not an owner of a swap, I have done some research. Most folks lean towards the LS swap with Motech being a popular name. It is a lighter runs cooler than a Hemi. I have a friend who runs a Hemi in his AEV and has struggled for years to keep the temps in check.

That being said, you are a Hemi fan so that platform may be a pure win.

I'm not looking for a kit for either of the engine choices. I'll put as much of it together myself as possible, including the wiring. Wishfull thinking maybe, but I will give it a try.

I was able to do it for the 5.9 swap, with help from this and other forums. The hardest part of that was the wiring. Hotwireauto has the same harness for near $2000. I built mine for about $100.

I think the better question for me to have asked is why someone would chose the LS, or the Hemi and their corresponding tranys?

The hemi's running hot does seem to be a pretty constant concern.
So maybe an LS with 2 computers, one for the engine and the other for the body? I think I came across some mention of this before, is this correct?
