Hood latches?

Hello fellow jeepers...
I got a '15 JKU a few months ago. What are the best hood latches out there? It seems when I go down the interstate, especially on a windy day, the hood flutter is horrible. Is this actually normal? Or?

Thanks!

any hood latch will do just get one thats all metal instead of having that rubber link in the center. the rubber stretching is where the hood flutter comes from, get rid of the rubber, no more flutter...

May not be your style but the Drake Off Road hood latches are solid and come with a locking option for a few bucks more.

It is normal. Most people change the latches. I have the rugged ridge latches. The drake latches are good, as are several others.

I have the daystars but actually only installed one...can't remember what happened, but something came up and I just never got around to doing the other one. Haven't had a flutter since.

Perfectly normal. You got 3 options
1. ignore it
2. replace the latches
3. remove the hood spring

I'm a fan of 3 since it's free and takes 20 seconds.

Removing the spring is the free way to get rid of the flutter. If you still have an issue you can replace the rubber "dog bone" in the factory latch with the Daystar Hood Hold Downs or replace the entire Hood Latch with something aluminum. They're great but if you don't like the look or the price, one of the other options might be better!

Let me know if you have other questions or if you'd like a quote on anything!

I've had the daystars for 5 years now, still just as good as the day I installed them. And I removed the spring.

Think I will go with the daystar hood latches. Least give em a try, seemed like a pretty easy/cheap efficient way to end the flutter.

How hard is it to put a new hood latch on? Could anyone give me a step by step or direct me to where I can read or watch a step by step perhaps. Thanks

It's not hard. Takes about 15 to 20 minutes. You can google daystar hood wrangler install, for videos and/written instructions.

Hood Latch Set 2007-2014 Jeep Wrangler JK

I really like their "industrial" design

Love my Rugged Ridge, look great and no flutter. And as posted in other places, NO NEED to remove the grill. Just need a longer extension for your 1/4 drive.

BTW Use the washers too but they are not in the directions.
