Hood Mounted Hi-lift Jack

Does it suck? Is it a pain in the ass and a hood damage risk taking the jack off on on?

Just be careful handling it so as not to dent the hood, and you'll be fine.

My main complaint is the jack interferes with the windshield washers. For that reason I only have the jack there when I go wheeling.

I plan on relocating it to the rear now that I have reinforced the tailgate.

Mine is hood mounted but stays in the Garage. If you leave it on all the time, it just has to be maintained more. It has to be well lubed and pretty rust free to function properly.

There are better hood ornaments.

If you plan on using a lot (most of them don't get used much) then make sure you carry wd 40 to clean it up and some sort of lube. Also it does get in the way of the windshield washers, but those can be relocated.

Ive never damaged the hood by taking on and off. Doesn't mean you can't.

I hate mine on the hood, but it's still the best place for it on my rig. Like sodak said, keep it lubed and ready. Hopefully you'll never have to use it

Regardless of where you carry it, get the neoprene boot to protect the mechanism. And as mentioned keep it lubed with WD-40.

I've only used mine on the trail once in 5 years and it was flawless; helped a couple guys with theirs and we had all kind of trouble because they were rusty and not lubed properly. Don't be "that guy"!

Have mine mounted inside attached to roll bar in the rear. Keeps clean and rust free and out of sight. Very easily taken out and put back in. Does not block full use of cargo area.

If I had one I would mount it in the garage, under the bench.

Roger that!
They look hideous out on the hood.
I've had mine since the mid-70's, and have used it twice.
Under the bench the majority of it's life.

I've found that mine makes a decent T-post puller!

I used to have mine mounted on the hood of my TJ. Personally for me, not a good idea. Too easy to damage/dent/scrape your hood whenever you need to manhandle the jack.
