Hooking up sPod for reverse lights

Does anybody know if I get an sPod can I hook up my rear bumper LEDs to turn on when I'm reversing or do I have to flip a switch? Or is it possible to do both??

you could tie your lights into the reverse lights. thats what i did. they come on when I put it in reverse. I was thinking of running a separate wire to the lights so I could turn them on with a switch, I'm not sure if it would back feed into the reverse circuit. good luck

Yeah, I think someone told me I can do a three way so they are tied into the break lights and can use the switch up front. Just not sure how to do all that. Didn't want to buy an Spod but I wanted to do it the right way the first time with front bumper led and rears plus eventually rock lights.

Im thinking Spod too along with dual batteries. I hope someone who has done it will pop in on this. either way Im going to do the three way when I get the Spod. Ive got LEDs tied into the fog lights and reset the computer so they will run on high beam too. Im thinking more lights and a air compressor for ARBs in the future so Im decently going with the Spod

I have an sPod and my rear LED's are wired to do both, they come on when I put it in reverse and I can turn them on via a switch on my sPod, so I know it can be done, but don't ask me how they did it, I had a shop do it, because if I did it, the lights would come on when I open the passenger door, or they would come on when the hood is opened, or.... I think you get the idea, I have no clue when it comes to automotive wiring...

Awesome thanks! Guess I'll just have to get it done professionally.

Painless makes a harness for it, or you could make your own. Harness plus three way switch.

Sweet didn't see it on there website but I'll have to look again. Looks like they made an sPod alternative though. I like that the box is waterproof but the switches look cheap.

Oops, my bad - I meant Rigid, pn#40192. Switch is cheap. You can get a 3way rocker so it mounts up looking nicer.

And I thought Painless did make one, however IIRC they were more expensive than the Rigid.

there are some many thoughts on this ... first off, if you are not going to hook up a bunch of other accessories, a SPOD or any of the variants is overkill. You can simply tap a fuse and do an a-pillar switch and then the 3 way.

If you are thinking of adding a bunch of accessories, some options on a SPOD or variant are:
  1. SPOD - 4x4 SPOD Since 2005 - The ORIGINAL JEEP Over The Windshield Switch Console - Jeep Power Distribution System
  2. Painless Train Rocker - Search Results | Painless Performance
  3. Switch Pros - Switch Pros - Home
  4. Custom Built Waytek Solution - $130
  5. DIY - Waytekwire Solution

Some good info there thanks. I'll have the front light bar and rear LEDs and plan on adding rock lights for sure and possibly adding windshield LED. So I figure that should warrant an spod purchase and make life easier in the long run.
