How to replace front bulbs...

So I bought the Phillips H4 X tremevision bulbs that I learned about on this forum. Any tips or guidance on how to install them? I assume that I remove the grill. Does that give me enough room? Thanks. I appreciate the guidance.

The bulbs in the stock JK are H13. If you plan on using an H4, you will need new reflectors and wiring harness. There are several posts in the forum for making the conversion. Here is a link to one of them which has links to the parts needed.

I did the H4 conversion a while ago and it is definitely an improvement. Hope this helps.

Darn. I thought these were plug and play.

Forgive my ignorance, but I can't find anything about the wiring harness and reflectors that I may need. Can someone point me in the right direction? Also, do you access the rear of the headlights by removing the grill, or is it more involved than that?

If you had bought these H13 bulbs, your upgrade would've been plug and play, albeit with the poor stock H13 reflectors.

Since you bought H4 bulbs, you will need new H4 reflectors (sold each) as well as H13 to H4 adapters to plug the H4 bulbs into your Jeep's H13 plugs.

Here's a YouTube video about replacing the headlight bulbs. Ignore the headlight protectors on his Jeep.

Thank you for that info. Is it worth getting the Cibie reflectors? Are they going to be that much better? Or should I save for better headlights altogether?

Take a look at post #51 from @Pressurized on the thread link below;

https://www.wranglerforum.com/f274/he...1170777-2.html

He has a great comparison of the various options and costs. The posts mention the Hella reflectors while others (myself included) use the Cibie reflectors. I can't recommend one over the other - really a matter of opinion.

Sounds like the H4 kit from 4wheelparts.com for a total of $86 is worth it. And it includes the bulbs too!
