If you have the hard top, some have said that water can leak into the top roof panels. And will make the sound that you are describing.

Maybe somebody else, who has experienced this with their panels, will comment on it, and the fix!

If you have the soft top, then this doesn't apply!

If your feet aren't soaked when you get out of your Jeep there are two common causes for that noise: the hard top and heater.

I had this problem When I got my jeep.
It's water in one of the overhead Freedom Panels, caused by the rear holding screws being too tight.

I have found going to finger tight and then a half turn more stops them squeaking and also stops water getting in.
