Unhappy iDatalink Maestro RR issue

Hey all. I attempted to install a Pioneer AVH-4100NEX today along with a idatalink maestro rr and CH1 wire harness and ran into a power issue. More specifically, the lack thereof. I had the CH1 terminated per the instructions from idatalink, but when I plug in the harness to the Jeep, the green power light doesn't come on on the maestro and neither does the HU. So I took a volt meter to the vehicle harness and was able to figure out (maybe incorrectly) that the yellow wire on one end of the harness is the power, and the black one at the other end is the ground. And I got voltage when testing. But when I test at the plug that powers the Maestro, I don't get any voltage on the red connector pin. Then I pulled the connection from the red wire on the CH1 (power) to the red wire on the Pioneer harness and tested for voltage there. I got nothing there too.

So as far as I can tell, I think I have a faulty CH1 wire harness. Anyone got any other ideas as to what my problem could be?

I ended up putting my stock HU back in and it works fine, so I know there's no fuse issue or anything like that either. I'm stumpted

Maybe it's not a bad harness

After I stepped away from the problem for a bit and looked at it again, I realized like an idiot I was testing for 12v on the red wires. 12v is the yellow.

Anyway, I plugged everything back in and re-tested. I get a full 12v on the yellow wires going to the HU and the Maestro. So maybe it's not a harness problem. I also ran some current through the ground wire too and made sure I saw voltage on it just to confirm a solid connection, and I did.

So at this point I have 12v on both the yellow wires to the HU and the Maestro, what I think is a solid ground on both as well. The Maestro does light up green for maybe a second, and then goes out. The HU doesn't do anything though. No signs of life at all. I would assume if I unplug everything, and just run the yellow and the ground to the HU or the Maestro, it should turn on right? I mean, it may not work since nothing is hooked up, but I would think just a 12v and ground should get me something? In this case it's not.

Hopefully you guys know something I don't.

Lightbulb Doh!

So I found the issue. It was Step 3 on the Maestro guide. With all of the wires and clips and all, I totally missed that I didn't have one of the required harnesses connected. So I plugged it in and everything came up as expected.

That said, for anyone installing one of these, it would appear that even when you have 12v going to the head unit, it will NOT power up until the Maestro is happy. So I guess the CH1 harness is somehow wired up in series so that the radio won't power until you have the Meastro all sorted.
