Installing another head unit , Uconnect module removable?

So, Iím replacing my older Pioneer with an AVIC-W8400NEX and found out how to attach the usb cable from the uconnect module behind the HVAC controls.

Can I just completely remove the damn thing?

Yes, as long as you plan on using the new HU's bluetooth for both calls and streaming audio.

Mini usb-b female to usb-a male. That's what I used to connect the usb from the back of my aftermarket head unit to the cable going to the console.

Thanks again. Removed it and everything is running fine.

I did find out that my AVIC-W8400NEX doesnít boot every time I start it up. I think if you crank it too slow, the signal to it goes from ON-OFF-ON and it doesnít know what to do. Iím pretty sure when a vehicle is cranking over, the juice to the electronics is off. So I just skip ACC and turn it over.

Send a message via ICQ to RowlyRowl
you might be able to find a new place to tap the acc power from. there are usually some that cut out when going from acc to start/run and some that have continuous power as soon as key is turned to acc and further.

I just installed a AVIC-W6500NEX and I know what you are talking about on the startup. While mine has never actually not booted, it does seem to think about it occasionally.
