Is it wrong, if so why?

What harm could/ does come if you were to fill your new oil thru the filter housing when going an oil change? I have not done it this way, although I read a thread where a guy did and was hoping he did no harm to the engine, but it would be much easier to put my 2 qt funnel in the filter housing and start filling than to use the filler hole on the valve cover.
Thanks for any USEFUL input.

If that's what you prefer to do it doesn't hurt anything. It drains into the oil pan either way. Just make sure you don't overfill.

It will likely be slower to pour in, but other than that I can't think of a reason it won't work. Just pour slowly.
