Question Jeep JK Stero randomly pauses/ cuts out

Hi jeep fam! I am the proud new owner of a purple 2016 wrangler named Wanda! Unfortunately, the factory warranty ended a day after i purchased her so I thought i'd check here first.

My radio will randomly cut out/ pause for a few seconds and then resume as if nothing happened. Nothing serious, just really annoying (especially when i'm singing at a stop light with the top off)! I've noticed it happens with both satellite radio, Bluetooth, and AUX, so it couldn't be a connection issue. I'm wondering if anyone else has had this issue or knows how to reset the radio (or if that is even possible)?

Thanks

Hi fayyadalisa,

Sorry to hear you are experiencing this concern with your Wrangler! If you’re not able to determine the cause of your concern based on the advice provided here, I kindly recommend connecting with your local Jeep dealer as they are in the best position to assist. Our team is available via private message if you are in need of any assistance with that process.

Does the radio actually turn off or just the volume stops when in the middle of singing?

My 16 JKU RHR the radio also stopped working, for me it’s all static, can’t pick up any radio stations. Also out of warranty and for me I won’t go back to the dealer, I tried getting my local dealership to fix a water leak a few months back and they wouldn’t cover it.... a few thousand miles out of warranty.

I would just go to your local stereo shop and have them install something. That is depending on if it’s power to the radio that’s causing the problem or if the actual radio is bad.

I had a similar issue after I purchased my 2011 back in 2013 and it turned out to be the amplifier. It would randomly cut out and sometimes cut back in soon after but other times it took quite a while to come back. Took it to a dealership and they replaced the amp and it hasn't happened since. Not sure if that's your issue but maybe an easy starting point.
