Jeep jk Whining sound

the noise sounds just like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gI63sVJrdZs Isn't really audible at idle, gets louder and higher pitched with rpm. Noise is constant. I can hear it wether or not the car is in gear. I can hear it when parked in neutral if i slightly rev the engine. Most prominent in first and second gear but it may just be that I can't hear it over the road noise when going above 20ish mph. It's been happening for a long time now and it hasn't gotten any worse and hasn't caused any other problems. Today I pulled the serpentine belt and checked all the pulleys. Ran the engine shortly without the belt on and it still made the noise. I've also tried changing the tranny fluid, which didn't help. No chunks of metal on the drain plug. Also removed the airbox because someone said they had a whine noise caused by a crack in theirs. Noise still happened without the intake on. Not sure what to look for next. Vacuum leak? Exhaust leak?

I have a '13 with an auto, with 61k miles. I had this sound for a few days and then it started shifting like crap and getting stuck in low gears, threw a CEL with a P2784 code and went into limp mode. I had mine towed to the dealer yesterday. Hoping the dealer will fix under power train warranty. Hope yours isn't as serious but recommend having someone look at it.

Weird. I've been driving it like this for around 6k miles, absolutely no tansmission problems (it's a 6 speed). If anything it's been shifting smoother since I changed the fluid. I'm starting to suspect an exhaust leak somewhere between the cat and the cylinder head although I've never heard an exhaust leak that sounds like this. I'll probably have a professional exhaust leak test done at my local muffler shop, they do it for free, then I'll go from there I guess.

See if your idler pulleys are heating up. I keep a spare set in my garage. The missus likes doing what you are doing. And the pulleys dry out pretty regularly.
