Jeep wrangler Sahara 2008 low rpm

Wranglers,

I recently bought a 2008 Sahara wrangler and just wanted to get your ideas about this 'issue' that I'm having ..

Probably it's a manufacturer safety feature but my rpm goes to go above 4000 rpm when am on neutral or parking .. If am driving and hit on the accelerator it goes up high with no issues .. also if I'm on 5th gear driving at 60 miles/hr and hit on the accelerator it doesn't shift back to 4th it stays calm and speed goes up quite slowly.

Is this normal or is there something wrong with the gear or maybe something else?

Thanks for you help

Welcome to the Forum!

Are you saying that when you stop and shift into neutral or parking the engine revs up 4000 RPM on its own?

The 3.8 likely has a rev limiter since it doesn't rev as well/high as the 3.6. Why do you want rev it any higher?

Regarding the overdrive, is your Jeep lifted?

Its not lifted. I thought it had something to do with the overdrive. If it has a limiter then that explains it i guess? Even for the over drive? Is there a way to bypass this limiter ?

The 4000 rpm rev limiter would only be when in park/neutral.

When driving, the rev limit is 5600 rpm.
