JK Horn issues

Ok, so I'm new to the forum and have an issue I haven't see answer to in the search.
I have a 2012 JK Unlimited Rubi.
The horn messed up on me a while back and I pulled the fuse in the engine compartment.
Decided I needed to see about fixing it the other day.
Tried a new horn and have pulled the battery (new battery actually) to reset computer if needed.
Fuse is not blown, I add the 10 amp fuse, open the driver door (its unlocked no alarm set) and the horn blares non stop.
I pull the wire to the horn, and as I touch it honks. ie non stop power going to it.
After a few min (time always varies) horn stops. even when i try to honk horn from wheel no sound at all.
I check the fuse, still good. Pull fuse, put in place, open any door and it honks away non stop.
not sure what is causing it or where to look next.
If wheel needs pulled apart then need a how to, but if the wheel is the issue why does it eventually stop and not react when pressed?
If not wheel, what is my next step?
I have 50K miles so past warrenty and don't want to have to go to dealership if possible.
Thanks for any and all help!

Did you have the alarm put in aftermarket? I'm assuming this just randomly started happening?

alarm is the factory alarm for the JK. Jsut started happening when it was cold but now happens all the time. I thought a messed up fuse or a bad connection but wires stay hot till it stops, then can't activate horn at all. After closing and opening doors it starts again regardless of the alarm.
Oh and constant sound not the honk honk that the alarm does, just non stop sound.

The Missus '09 went through this. It is the clockspring. The only time the horns work now is with the panic button.

It sounds like the keyless entry module may be faulty or its wires may be shorting somewhere, making the module think the door triggers is supposed to activate the horn. The module should be located in the steering column next to the ignition switch, so you should take a look at that.

There's a photo of the module on this page: Jeep Wrangler JK 2007 to 205 How to Program Keyless Remote - Jk-Forum

Any est on part repair costs for these?

Thanks again!

any updates on the solution??? I'm off to hunt for "clockspring" now too...

we have a 2014 JKU and at roughly 50,000 trouble free miles we now have the alarm sounding when we open an unlocked door or when we use the keyfob(s) to unlock the locked jeep ...

thanks for any help!

I had the same issue on my ‘14 JKU. Jeep horn would go off continuously for about 30 seconds after opening door. I replaced the cruise control switch module and it fixed the issue. A week before this issue started I installed Superchips flashpaq and chose the fuel saver mod. I wonder if that caused the horn issue to come about. I am going to wait about a week and try the Superchips flashpaq again and see what happens. Simple fix once you know what the issue is. Took me about an hour to swap out the old one.
