JKS vs Fox 2.0 Shocks

Anyone have experience with JKS branded shocks? I ordered the JKS 2.5 inch lift kit that comes with the Fox 2.0 shocks but I received the JKS branded shocks instead because the Fox shocks are on backorder.

Mind you before ordering I contacted the site to confirm they were available and was told they were. Anyway, I called JKS directly because I couldnít get a straight answer from the site I purchased the kit from as to why I received the wrong shocks and apparently they moved their Fox factory from MI to CA and itís not going to up and running until the end of August.

I was hoping to have this kit installed in August so Iím good for my Sept trip but I donít think thatís going to happen. Does anyone have any experience with the JKS branded shocks. Iím wondering if theyíll be much different than the stock shocks on my 2016? I asked the JKS rep the difference and he said the only real difference is that the Fox shocks are stiffer.

Iím contemplating just installing the JKS branded at this point so looking for feedback if anyone thinks it's worth waiting on the 2.0 Fox shocks.

I don't have any experience with the JKS shock, but I can tell you that JKS parent company also owns Fox. SO they should know what they are doing...

Did they discount you? Or are they going to send the Fox once they are back in stock and the JKS shock was a stop gap?

I tried to find the length specs, but they aren't listed on JKS website.

I haven't got that far yet. JKS contacted me this morning, they've been extremely responsive, and informed me there's three other customers from this same supplier with this problem.

From what the JKS rep told me it sounds like this supplier should have changed the description of the kit and that didn't happen as the 2.0 shocks haven't been produced since the first of the year because of the factory move.

JKS contacted me a few minutes ago and said they should have a solution shortly so I'll wait to see what that is before deciding how to proceed.

I've never used JKS shocks. I have and do use Fox. I am a believer in the FOX 2.0 performance series and higher.

Read between the lines or wait for the Fox shocks.. good luck.

If they plan to send you out the Fox when they become available, install them and have fun... If not, I'd love to hear their remedy.

As for responsive? Yes sir! They were the first to send me their entire spring specs without hesitation. They said they totally understand us enthusiasts like to do things our own way.

Figured I would provide an update now that I have a final solution which took over a month to obtain. JKS is going to be sending me the Fox Performance 2.0 IFP model in place of the Adventure 2.0 that was supposed to come with my JSPEC 2.5 lift kit. It eventually took me reaching out to Fox directly to get a clear answer that the Adventure Series shocks has been discontinued since the first of the year and are not on backorder as I was being told. Fox said the Performance shock had replaced the Adventure series in this kit some time ago.

I e-mailed Morris 4x4 and JKS that info from Fox and requested they either send me the Performance shock in place of the Adventure or pickup my kit for a full refund so I could go in another direction with my lift. The JKS rep e-mailed a few days later saying they would do the swap and pickup the JKS branded shocks I had been sent.

Overall I’m satisfied even though it took me contacting Fox directly to get a clear answer and having to provide a bit of an ultimatum. Anyway, I’ll continue to outfit my Jeep with JKS product as they were very responsive and obviously seemed intent on getting me what I was originally sold or as close to it as they could. (plus JKS product in my opinion is top notch)

On the flipside I won’t be ordering from Morris 4x4 again. They gave incorrect info prior to me placing the order by confirming the kit was in-stock with the Fox shocks and then basically went radio silent once I contacted them about the issue. They have since corrected the description of the JSPEC kit on their site. I’m assuming that was at the direction of JKS once they reviewed the link I sent them.

So now to schedule the install and plan a trip!

You made out good. I have the JKS jspec 2.5 with the "Adventure" shock. While I love the lift, the shocks are low end Fox...just OK. I'll replace them with something else when the time comes.

BTW, how do you like the lift? I've had mine for two years and its been treating me well. Actually flexes better than expected. I'm going to get some longer brake lines because even with the extention brackets in place that were included, the front lines get too tight for my liking at full flex. I should also mention that I upgraded to their longer (fixed length) lower control arms so I'm sure that helped how it handles and feels on the road.

I actually haven't installed it yet because I've been waiting to get the shock issue figured out. I hope to have it installed by the end of the month. It depends on how busy my local shop is at the moment.

Once installed I need to determine if I want some drop brackets depending on how the drive feels.

Did you get the rear track bar reinforcement brackets? I'm probably going to put that on as it's only another $50.

Yes, had already installed that prior to the lift.

Thanks, go my shocks yesterday and Fox ended up sending me the 2.0 with the reservoir system which was a bit of a shock. The shocks alone cost almost as much as the entire JKS kit.

Glad you got your issues resolved! At what point does a reinforcment bracket become advised? Do you happen to have a link to the referenced TB bracket?

Thank you!

Everyone I've talked to says if you do moderate trails it's probably not needed but it doesn't hurt anything and it's only $50. Below is a link to the product on XT's site.
